Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tekla Structural Modeler with 2–5 years of experience in structural steel modeling. The ideal candidate will prepare accurate 3D models, fabrication drawings, and material reports while coordinating with engineering, detailing, and construction teams to deliver high-quality, constructible project documentation on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models for steel structures, including foundations, base plates, steel members, bracing, platforms, staircases, and connections using Tekla Structures.
- Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings, shop/fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and anchor bolt plans in accordance with project and client standards.
- Design and detail standard and non-standard steel connections in line with AISC, IS 800, Eurocode, or applicable project design codes.
- Perform clash detection and 3D coordination with piping, civil, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines using Tekla BIMsight, Navisworks, or Trimble Connect; log and resolve clashes within agreed timelines.
- Generate Material Take-Offs (MTOs), bolt lists, bought-out item schedules, and NC (numbering control) reports for fabrication and procurement.
- Incorporate design revisions, RFIs, and engineering feedback into the model, maintaining accurate revision history and drawing issue registers.
- Set up and maintain Tekla model organization, phases, grids, reference models, and drawing templates as per project/company modeling standards.
- Coordinate with structural engineers to ensure connection design capacities and load paths are correctly reflected in the model.
- Prepare and check IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings, ensuring dimensional accuracy, weld symbols, and bolt specifications are correct.
- Support fabrication and site erection teams by resolving field queries, preparing as-built drawings, and issuing NC change reports.
- Ensure model and drawing quality through self-checks and participation in internal QA/QC and peer review processes.
- Maintain version control and documentation of models, drawings, and reports in the project's document management system.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Expert proficiency in Tekla Structures software, including custom components, drawing views, and reporting tools.
- Strong understanding of structural steel detailing, fabrication tolerances, and construction practices.
- Working knowledge of structural design codes (AISC, IS 800, Eurocode, or equivalent) as applicable to the project region.
- Familiarity with clash detection/coordination tools such as Navisworks, Tekla BIMsight, or Trimble Connect.
- Ability to read and interpret structural GA drawings, connection design calculations, and P&ID;/civil layouts for coordination.
- Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in structural steel modeling using Tekla Structures, preferably in Oil & Gas, Power, or Industrial/EPC projects.
- Valuable communication, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Industry
Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, Infrastructure, and Industrial/EPC projects.
