The Role

As a Technical Business Analyst at S5 Stratos, you will serve as the critical internal bridge between our client-facing resources and our core technical teams. You will deeply understand our proprietary software solutions for Merchandise Financial Planning (MFP), Assortment Strategy, Allocation Optimization, and Store Clustering. In this role, you will work behind the scenes to translate client requirements, product enhancements, and defects—relayed by our account and implementation teams—into precise Jira artifacts and test specifications.

You will collaborate with Configuration, QA, and Data Engineering teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and mapped to solution functionality. This is mostly an internal-facing position with little to no direct face-to-face client interaction.

Responsibilities

- Technical Artifacts: Translate client-specific assortment strategies, allocation logic, and store clustering needs into clear functional requirements documents.
- Jira Ownership: Write high-quality Jira user stories, data mapping sheets, and explicit acceptance criteria for the Data Engineering and Configuration teams.
- Defect Triage:



Analyze client defects passed down by account teams, enable issues reproduction, and build actionable debugging tickets for developers.
- Data Engineering Liaison: Collaborate with data teams to assist in new solution development and assess impact of changes to existing solutions.
- QA Partnership: Provide the QA team with explicit business scenarios, edge cases, and expected data inputs/outputs to build rigorous manual and automated test scripts.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst, ideally working within a retail software product company or an enterprise retail IT division.
- Domain Expertise: Working knowledge of retail planning mechanics, including GMROI, sell-through, pack-size optimization, and allocation methodologies.
- Jira Ecosystem: Advanced proficiency utilizing Jira for backlog grooming, sprint tracking, linking dependencies, and defect management.
- Database & SQL: Proficient with SQL (joins, aggregations, data analysis) to audit data flows and troubleshoot software behaviors.
- Data Structure Familiarity: Familiarity of retail data models (retail calendars, product/location hierarchies) and data warehousing concepts.
- Internal Liaison: Ability to ingest client context from account managers and fluidly translate it into technical architecture for technical teams.
- Problem Solver: Self-motivated to dig into details where required.
