Systems & Instrumentation Engineer (Robotics)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Integrate and validate sensors including LiDAR, IMUs, wheel encoders, ultrasonic sensors, cameras, proximity sensors, and other industrial instrumentation.
- Interface with embedded hardware, motor controllers, Battery Management Systems (BMS), actuators, and industrial peripherals.
- Configure and troubleshoot communication protocols including CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, Modbus, and MQTT where applicable.
- Perform sensor calibration, system tuning, and performance validation for robotic platforms.
- Develop and execute hardware validation, system integration, and commissioning procedures.
- Monitor robot telemetry, diagnostics, health parameters, and system logs for performance optimization.
- Collaborate closely with Embedded, Robotics (ROS2), IoT, Mechanical, and Product Engineering teams.
- Support hardware-software integration across edge devices and robotic controllers.
- Debug electrical, firmware, networking, and system-level integration issues.
- Develop automated testing procedures and maintain technical documentation.
- Participate in prototype development, field testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of robotic systems.
Required Skills
- Good programming knowledge in C/C++ or Python.
- Strong understanding of electronics and instrumentation fundamentals.
- Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontroller-based architectures.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet.
- Understanding of sensors used in robotics, including LiDAR, IMUs, encoders, and cameras.
- Strong Linux fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Git for version control.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and hardware debugging.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Preferred Skills
- Exposure to ROS/ROS2 and robotic system architectures.
- Familiarity with edge computing platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson or Raspberry Pi.
- Knowledge of MQTT, REST APIs, and cloud-based telemetry systems.
- Experience with industrial automation, PLCs, or SCADA systems is an advantage.
- Understanding of SLAM, localization, navigation, and autonomous robotic systems.
- Knowledge of Docker and containerized deployments.
- Experience with simulation tools such as Gazebo or Isaac Sim.
- Familiarity with testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and power analyzers.
- Understanding of battery systems, motor control, and power electronics.
Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Electronics, Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
