Software Engineer Intern
WayCube · [Remote] · [Internship, 6 months] · [₹6000-10,000/month] ——— ABOUT WAYCUBE Everyday commerce still runs on a patchwork of phone calls, paper, and guesswork. The neighbourhood vendors who serve millions of people every day — the kirana, the cloud kitchen, the salon, the corner service — have almost no software built for how they actually operate. We're changing that.
WayCube is building the operating system for everyday commerce: a vendor-first platform where discovery is map-first and fulfilment is footfall-first. Customers order ahead in the app and collect in person, so vendors earn footfall instead of paying it away in delivery margins. On top sits a modular plugin ecosystem and a Gemini-powered AI layer that let a small vendor operate like a much bigger one.
We're live on Android, launching on iOS, and running our first on-ground pilot with real vendors. We're DPIIT-recognised, StartInUP-certified, incubated at the MIT Manipal Innovation Centre, and accepted into PW School of Startups. We're small, early, and moving quick — which is exactly why this is a good time to join. ——— THE ROLE You'll work directly with the founders on a production React Native app used by real vendors and customers.
This is not a shadowing internship. You'll own features end to end and watch them ship to people who depend on them. Depending on your strengths, you could work on:
- User alert system — background services, notifications so a user never misses an order or message
- Map-first discovery, and performance on low-end devices
- Publishing on Android & iOS, pushing updates effortlessly, from build pipeline to Store
- Various 3rd party integrations into Spaces across categories
- Our AI agent layer — conversational commerce, automation,
vendor-facing intelligence, recognition and recommentations. ——— WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Must have:
- Solid React Native + Expo — you've built and shipped something real, not just followed a tutorial
- Genuine comfort in the CLI — EAS builds, debugging, reading native logs when something breaks
- Instinct to read docs, try things, and move without waiting to be told the next step
- Care for the details — how it feels, not just whether it runs Bonus (any of these move you up the list):
- Google Cloud Platform
- Firebase
- AI agents / LLM tooling (Gemini, tool-calling, RAG)
- A strong UI/UX eye ——— WHAT YOU'LL GAIN
- Real ownership — production features from week one, not throwaway code
- Direct mentorship from the founders across domains
- A rare full-stack view of how a company gets built from near-zero
- A portfolio of live, real-world features you can point to
- A path to a longer-term or founding-team role for those who stand out ——— WHO SHOULD APPLY Students and recent grads who build things because they can't help it. If you've shipped a side project, an app, or a hackathon build; if ambiguity energises you more than it worries you; if you'd rather own a hard problem than be handed an easy one — we want to hear from you. Credentials matter less to us than what you've made. This isn't the right fit if you need a detailed spec for everything or want to specialise narrowly this early. Early-stage means wide scope and fast change. That's the trade — and for the right person, it's the whole point. ——— HOW TO APPLY Send your GitHub or resume and one line on the most interesting thing you've built and shipped — to
[email protected] or DM me directly. Skip the long cover letter; show us what you've made. #Hiring #ReactNative #SoftwareEngineering #Internship
