Role Description The Software Development Engineer (SDE I) role at NextMantra AI is a full-time, remote position focused on building and maintaining core software components that support talent intelligence and digital hiring solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing, coding, testing, and debugging back-end services and APIs, collaborating with senior engineers on scalable architectures, and implementing clean, maintainable code following best practices and object-oriented paradigms.

The SDE I will participate in code reviews, contribute to technical documentation, and help improve system performance and reliability. This role also involves working closely with cross-functional teams such as product, data, and operations to translate requirements into robust technical solutions and continuously enhance the platform’s capabilities.





Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and RESTful APIs.

Build reliable, high-performance distributed systems and microservices.

Develop efficient database schemas and optimize queries using PostgreSQL.

Implement event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka.

Leverage Redis for caching and performance optimization.

Deploy, manage, and monitor applications in Kubernetes environments.

Collaborate closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and Engineering teams.

Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance.

Contribute to architecture discussions and continuous process improvements.

Required Skills

2–5 years of software development experience.

Strong programming experience in Java and/or Python.

Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.

Experience working with Apache Kafka.

Good understanding of Redis.

Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.

Strong knowledge of REST APIs, Microservices, and Distributed Systems.

Familiarity with Git, Agile methodologies, and software development best practices.

Robust analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Good to Have

Working knowledge of React.js or Next.js.

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.

Understanding of system design, scalability, and performance optimization.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
