Hiring for Assisstant Manager, Pellet Plant.
Job Overview
The Assistant Manager – Pellet Plant Operations will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end pellet plant operations, ensuring optimum production efficiency, plant availability, and high quality standards while driving continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational & Process Control
- Lead shift operations to achieve target production volumes while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor and manage plant operations both from the field and via the Central Control Room (CCR) / DCS system.
- Control crucial process parameters including temperatures, pressures, and flow rates across key equipment (Traveling Grate, Rotary Kiln, Cooler, and Gravity Cyclones).
- Manage process fans (HR Fan, ID Fan, Cooling Fan) including setpoints, current (amps), speed (RPM), and vibration monitoring.
- Regulate raw material feed rates in dynamic response to temperature fluctuations and process requirements.
- Oversee thermal processing phases: drying, preheating, firing, roasting, and cooling.
2. Quality Assurance & Cost Optimization
- Ensure product quality standards are consistently met, focusing on Cold Crushing Strength (CCS), Tumbler Index (TI), Abrasion Index (AI), and basicity.
- Regularly analyze quality laboratory reports and take swift corrective and preventive actions.
- Implement cost-reduction strategies focused on optimizing fuel oil consumption, power usage, and raw material efficiency.
3. Maintenance, Safety & Emergency Response
- Conduct routine checkups of all plant equipment and auxiliaries (e.g., fuel oil pumps) to ensure optimum performance and reliability.
- Identify operational bottlenecks or equipment defects and collaborate with maintenance teams for prompt rectification.
- Lead immediate corrective actions and emergency procedures during power failures or unforeseen plant breakdowns.
- Enforce safety protocols, risk management, and safe working habits across shift operations.
4. Leadership & Shift Administration
- Supervise, guide, and motivate area operators and technician teams to achieve safe and efficient output.
- Maintain thorough daily operational logs, production records, shift reports, and handover documentation.
- Utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools for operational tracking, reporting, and resource management.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
- Experience: 8–10+ years of hands-on experience in straight-grate / grate-kiln pellet plant operations, with proven tenure in shift leadership or senior engineering roles.
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth practical knowledge of Traveling Grate (TG), Kiln, Cooler, process fans, and auxiliary systems.
- Proficiency in Central Control Room (CCR) operations and DCS systems.
- Familiarity with plant ERP systems and office productivity suites (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
