Role Description The Senior Staff Reporter – US Markets (Pre-market Shift) is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading early-morning coverage of U.S. financial markets. In this role, you will monitor overnight developments, economic data releases, company news, and market-moving events to produce timely, accurate, and engaging pre-market reports and news briefs.

You will write and edit market stories tailored to Stocktwits’ community, incorporating charts, multimedia elements, and social-finance context where appropriate. You will collaborate closely with editors, analysts, and community teams to identify key narratives, surface emerging trends, and ensure consistent, high-quality coverage across platforms. You will also participate in planning editorial calendars, refining content formats, and contributing to special projects and features that deepen audience understanding of market dynamics.

Qualifications

- Strong reporting skills, including sourcing, fact-checking, and quick-turn news gathering, with experience in financial or business journalism preferred.
- Excellent communication and writing abilities,



with a track record of producing clear, concise, and engaging market-focused content under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in news writing and storytelling for digital audiences, including headlines, briefs, and longer-form analysis tailored to investor and trader communities.
- Comfort working with multimedia formats to enhance and contextualize written coverage.
- Deep understanding of U.S. markets, macroeconomic events, and corporate news; familiarity with trading platforms, social finance, or retail investor behavior is a plus.
- Ability to thrive in an early-morning pre-market schedule, manage multiple stories simultaneously, and collaborate effectively in a remote, distributed team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, finance, economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience using editorial tools, content management systems, and market data platforms; solid attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and fairness in coverage.

Preferred Experience

- Experience writing market wraps and earnings reports for U.S. equities, including pre-market and after-hours coverage.
- Experience creating data-driven financial content using internal and external market data and sentiment metrics.
- Experience collaborating within an editorial or content production team to meet publishing deadlines.

Mandatory Qualifications

- 5 years of professional experience handling or covering financial news in the US Equity Market.
- Direct experience with and exposure to U.S. Equity markets. Crypto only experience will not qualify.
