We are looking for a Senior Project Planner capable of independently managing the planning, progress control and periodic reporting of large-scale multidisciplinary engineering projects.
The selected candidate will work closely with the Project Manager, Project Engineering Manager and Discipline Leaders, ensuring that project schedules, deliverables, resources, man-hours and costs are continuously monitored and correctly reported.
The Senior Project Planner will report functionally to the Project Engineering Manager of the assigned project, who will define project priorities, objectives and required recovery actions. From an organisational and hierarchical perspective, the position will report to the General Manager India.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the project Work Breakdown Structure and baseline schedule.
- Prepare, structure and manage the detailed Engineering Deliverable List, including planned dates, discipline responsibilities, document status, review cycles and issue dates.
- Monitor the complete engineering workflow across all disciplines, including process, piping, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical and instrumentation.
- Collect and validate weekly progress information from Discipline Leaders.
- Perform regular follow-up of engineering progress, verifying the completion of planned activities and deliverables.
- Update the project schedule and analyse deviations against the approved baseline.
- Prepare and manage the detailed four-week look-ahead schedule, identifying priorities, interfaces, constraints and overdue activities.
- Prepare weekly progress reports, including deliverable status, planned versus actual progress, critical activities and required corrective actions.
- Prepare monthly project reports, S-curves, manpower histograms, progress forecasts and schedule analyses.
- Monitor planned and actual man-hours, resource allocation, productivity and Estimate to Complete.
- Support cost control, revenue forecasting, invoicing and project margin monitoring.
- Identify delays, schedule variations, resource shortages, productivity issues and potential cost overruns.
- Present identified deviations and their potential impacts to the Project Engineering Manager, supporting the assessment and definition of corrective and recovery actions.
- Follow up on the implementation of agreed recovery actions and verify their effectiveness.
- Monitor additional works, scope changes and de-scoping activities, assessing their impact on schedule and man-hours.
- Participate in internal and client progress meetings and present the project status to management.
Mandatory Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience in project planning and project controls for industrial plants, preferably within engineering or EPC companies.
- Advanced and demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, charts and reporting tools.
- Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project.
- Strong knowledge of the complete engineering cycle of a multidisciplinary project, from project start-up and basic engineering through detailed engineering, document issuance and project close-out.
- Proven ability to develop,
structure and manage an Engineering Deliverable List in detail.
- Proven experience in preparing and managing four-week look-ahead schedules.
- Proven experience in weekly and monthly progress measurement and reporting.
- Good knowledge of engineering progress calculation, man-hour control, productivity analysis and forecasting.
- Ability to independently coordinate and challenge progress information received from engineering disciplines.
- Valuable written and spoken English.
- Availability to work at the companys office in Coimbatore, India.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Chemical, Oil & Gas, Energy, Power or Industrial projects.
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management principles.
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools.
- Experience working with international and remote engineering teams.
