Job Summary
Defines enterprise architecture direction, target-state priorities, and cross-domain standards aligned to long-term business strategy, technology evolution, and operating model needs. Guides enterprise-wide decisions on architecture, platforms, integration, data, infrastructure, cloud, security, and related capabilities to improve scalability, resilience, and performance. Advises senior executives on high-impact technical tradeoffs, risks, funding priorities, and transformation choices that shape enterprise outcomes.
Coordinates alignment across business, product, engineering, security, infrastructure, operations, and external ecosystem partners to advance enterprise architecture priorities. Improves governance, decision rights, accountability models, and quality standards to strengthen execution discipline across complex portfolios and domains. Defines next-generation architecture practices, standards, and reusable patterns that reshape how work is delivered across the enterprise.
Builds enterprise capability by mentoring senior leaders, guiding complex assignments, and establishing mechanisms that scale technical excellence and organizational effectiveness.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Enterprise Architecture Expertise: Solid understanding of Enterprise Architecture techniques and patterns, with experience in aligning business capabilities with technology.
- Systems Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in enterprise-grade systems and platforms for ERP or CRM or other relevant systems.
- Establishment of Standards: Define, develop, and enforce standard architectural principles, patterns, and processes to drive consistency and efficiency across the enterprise.
- Technology Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of technologies that enhance supply chain planning, management, and execution or commercial pharma and patient services.
- Strategic Alignment: Ensure alignment between IT strategy,
architectural frameworks, and business objectives.
- Innovation Leadership: Foster innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Balanced Decision-Making: Identify opportunities to innovate by weighing the adoption of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions against in-house development (Build).
- Evaluation of Options: Assess Build vs. Buy vs. Rent decisions based on the niche or competitive nature of capabilities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and drive strategic initiatives.
- High-Level Architecture Guidance: Provide architecture and guidance for complex, cross-functional Proof of Concepts (POCs), pilots, and products.
- Architectural Analysis: Analyze current architectures to identify weaknesses and drive opportunities for improvement.
- Collaboration with Application Architects: Work closely with delivery teams to ensure adherence to enterprise architecture patterns and practices.
- Facilitation of Communication: Maintain consistency across projects and product teams through effective communication and coordination.
- MA Leadership: Lead or advise on strategic merger and acquisition activities, ensuring architectural alignment and integration.
- Change Management Expertise: Skilled in leading transformation programs, guiding organizations through change while minimizing disruption and maximizing buy-in.
- Research-Backed Decision Making:
Demonstrate leadership by backing decisions with research, articulating options, pros and cons, and providing clear recommendations.
Experience and Educational Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, System Analysis, or a related field. Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, systems engineering, information technology, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience: Typically has a minimum of ten to fifteen (10 to 15) years of IT and business/industry work experience including solution architecture, application design and deployment, systems lifecycle management and infrastructure planning and operations.
- Technical Skills: Requires exposure to multiple, diverse technologies with strong techno-functional and business domain knowledge and processing environments. At least 3-5 years of system integration and implementation experience is required.
- Analytical Skills: Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed recommendations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and influence stakeholders at various levels within the organization.
- Presentation Skills: Ability to present and discuss business issues, strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others and gain understanding at all levels of the organization.
