The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior .NET Integration & API Modernisation Engineer to lead the enhancement and modernisation of our integration platform, supporting the transition from legacy SOAP services to modern REST APIs.

This role will play a key part in delivering scalable, secure, and resilient integration solutions while supporting critical business applications and services

Please note: This position requires full-time presence in AU time 9:00am – 5:00 pm AEST (5 days per week) fully remote

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain, troubleshoot and enhance legacy WCF/SOAP and up-to-date .NET REST APIs.
- Lead phased SOAP-to-REST migration, including contract mapping, compatibility assessment and consumer transition.
- Preserve business behaviour and data integrity across pricing, booking, customer, passenger, payment and cancellation workflows.
- Manage API contracts, versioning, authentication, OpenAPI/Swagger definitions and APIM publication.
- Investigate and resolve issues across application code, SQL Server, stored procedures, API gateway configuration,deployments and external dependencies.
- Improve resilience, including validation, idempotency, retries, timeouts, error handling, logging and monitoring.
- Establish appropriate automated regression,



integration and contract/parity test coverage for critical scenarios.
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment configuration, operational documentation and production support processes.

Required Skills & Experience

- Senior backend/API/integration engineer with experience owning production, externally consumed services.
- Hands-on capability across both .NET Framework 4.x and modern .NET 6/8.
- WCF/SOAP, WSDL, XML, XSD, XML serialisation and backwards-compatible contract management.
- REST API design, HTTP/JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger, API versioning, authentication and error standards.
- Experience modernising legacy services or integrations without disrupting consumers.
- Strong SQL Server, T-SQL, stored procedures, transaction handling, performance troubleshooting and data integrity knowledge.
- Understanding of transactional integration patterns: idempotency, concurrency, duplicate prevention, retries and compensating behaviour.
- Ability to establish effective test and release controls in a low-test-coverage or legacy environment.
- Strong troubleshooting, incident management and root-cause analysis capability.

- Partner/B2B API onboarding and support.
- Messaging, queues and event-driven integration.
- Experience in travel, booking, payments, commerce, logistics, financial services or another transaction-heavy domain.
