Role & responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and deliver defence products in accordance with applicable defence standards, specifications, and customer requirements.

- Convert customer and system-level requirements into detailed product specifications, engineering requirements, and design solutions.

- Perform engineering analysis, calculations, simulations, and design evaluations to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance.

- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, testing, procurement, and supply-chain teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

- Support prototype development, engineering trials, testing, validation, and qualification of products.

- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, engineering drawings, BOMs, test procedures, qualification reports, and technical compliance documents.

- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, failure analysis, and engineering change activities.

- Coordinate with manufacturing teams to resolve design and production-related issues and ensure smooth transition from development to production.

- Support qualification activities involving environmental, functional, reliability, and performance testing as applicable to the product.

- Analyse test and field data, identify technical issues, and implement appropriate corrective and design improvement actions.

- Ensure product development activities comply with applicable defence standards, quality requirements, and customer-specific specifications.

- Interact with customers, including DRDO, Defence PSUs, and defence OEMs, to understand technical requirements, address engineering queries, and provide project updates.

- Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, product demonstrations, inspections, and acceptance activities.

- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for technical requirements, component development, and resolution of engineering issues.

- Support preparation of technical proposals,



compliance matrices, statements of work, and responses to customer technical queries.

- Contribute to continuous improvement of product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.

- Maintain proper configuration control and ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables and project milestones.

Preferred candidate profile

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electronics, Electrical, Aerospace, a related engineering discipline.

- Experience in product design, development, testing, qualification, or engineering within the defence, aerospace, automotive, or other high-reliability industries.

- Good understanding of defence standards, engineering practices, quality requirements, and product qualification processes.

- Hands-on experience with engineering drawings, GD&T;, BOMs, design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.

- Knowledge of product development lifecycle from concept, design, prototyping, testing, qualification, and production.

- Experience working with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, and testing teams.

- Ability to analyse technical problems, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective engineering solutions.

- Familiarity with CAD/CAE tools and relevant engineering software is preferred.

- Strong technical documentation, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

- Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions.

- Experience interacting with defence customers, DRDO, Defence PSUs, OEMs, or government organisations will be an added advantage.

- Willingness to participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, testing, qualification activities, and field trials.

- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

- Robust commitment to quality, reliability, confidentiality, and adherence to project timelines.

- Candidates with experience in defence product development and qualification will be preferred.
