About the Role We are looking for an experienced and creatively driven Senior Fashion Designer – Bridal to join our design team in Topsia, Kolkata.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of Indian bridal and couture design, exceptional knowledge of silhouettes, fabrics, embroidery and surface development, and the ability to translate creative concepts into refined, production-ready garments.
The role requires a designer who can work independently while collaborating closely with the senior design team, artisans, sampling and production teams.
Key Responsibilities Design & Collection Development
- Develop innovative and commercially relevant bridal and couture designs in line with the brand's design language.
- Research current and emerging bridal, couture and occasion-wear trends.
- Develop mood boards, colour stories, design concepts and seasonal directions.
- Create detailed fashion illustrations and design presentations.
- Develop silhouettes, garment details, trims, embellishments and surface treatments.
- Work on coordinated bridal looks and complete collections.
Embroidery & Surface Development
- Develop embroidery concepts, motifs and placements.
- Have a strong understanding of Indian embroidery techniques, embellishments and craftsmanship.
- Work closely with artisans and embroidery teams to translate design concepts into finished pieces.
- Experiment with fabrics, textures, layering and surface techniques while maintaining a strong couture sensibility.
Technical & Product Development
- Prepare detailed design sheets with fabric, colour, embroidery and construction specifications.
- Work closely with sampling and production teams to ensure design intent is maintained.
- Review samples, identify design/fit/construction issues and recommend corrections.
- Ensure attention to detail, finishing and overall garment quality.
- Understand garment construction and the practical execution of complex bridal silhouettes.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with senior designers, junior designers, pattern makers, embroiderers, sampling and production teams.
- Guide junior members of the design team where required.
- Participate in fittings, sample reviews and design discussions.
- Incorporate feedback and make design modifications within deadlines.
- Manage multiple design developments and timelines simultaneously.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 6+ years of relevant experience in bridal, couture, luxury occasion wear or premium ethnic fashion.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating bridal and couture design.
- Excellent fashion illustration and design development skills.
- Strong knowledge of Indian bridal silhouettes, fabrics and craftsmanship.
- Valuable understanding of embroidery, embellishment and surface development.
- Strong understanding of garment construction and sampling.
- Excellent attention to detail and finishing.
- Ability to develop a concept from initial research through final garment execution.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven design environment.
- Strong creative thinking with commercial awareness.
Preferred Experience Candidates with experience in:
- Luxury bridal / couture labels
- Designer-led fashion houses
- High-end occasion wear

Mandatory Trial & Selection Process Candidates shortlisted after portfolio and profile screening will be required to attend a 2-day in-person design trial at our Topsia, Kolkata studio.
Selection Process
1. Portfolio & Profile Screening
Initial evaluation based on relevant experience, portfolio, design sensibility and bridal expertise.
1. Design Assignment
Shortlisted candidates will be given a bridal design assignment to assess their creative direction, research, concept development, silhouettes, embroidery and presentation.
1. Two-Day In-Person Trial
Day 1 – Creative & Design Development
- Understand a given bridal design brief.
- Develop a mood board and design direction.
- Create bridal silhouettes and fashion sketches.
- Develop embroidery/surface ideas.
- Present concepts and explain the design rationale.
Day 2 – Execution & Technical Development
- Refine selected designs based on feedback.
- Develop detailed design sheets.
- Work on fabric, embroidery and construction details.
- Demonstrate garment/sampling understanding.
- Make revisions based on feedback from the design team.
- Present the finalised work.
1. Final Interview
The final interview will take place after completion of the 2-day trial and will assess the candidate's overall performance, design approach, technical knowledge, communication, team fit and suitability for the role. Please Note: Candidates applying for this position must be available to attend the complete 2-day in-person trial at our Topsia, Kolkata studio. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who combines strong creative vision with technical execution — a designer who understands the nuances of bridal couture, appreciates craftsmanship, pays close attention to detail and can take a design from concept → development → sampling → final garment. Candidates with a strong bridal/couture portfolio and hands-on experience in luxury fashion will be preferred.
