Role: Senior Creative Automation Engineer Experience: 6 10 years Location: Chennai Employment Type: WFO Notice Period: Immediate Role definition A hands-on senior engineer who builds and ships production-grade automation for creative production workflows. The Senior Creative Automation Engineer owns end-to-end build of automation solutions for a designated capability area examples include motion/video,

packaging artwork, print literature, image retouching, digital design adaptation, presentation generation, or regulated-content workflows.

This role is the bridge between the creative production team who define the manual workflow with its real-world quirks and the automation/AI tooling that removes the repetitive part of that workflow. The engineer is expected to walk the studio floor, understand the manual process deeply, then go back to code and replace 60 80% of it with scripts,

plugins, or GenAI-assisted pipelines without losing creative quality.

Day-to-day: 50% hands-on automation build (Python + JavaScript + Adobe Creative Suite scripting); 30% pair-programming with the assigned Mid Developer and reviewing their work;

20% partnering with the Solution Architect Lead on reference architecture, shared libraries,

and integration patterns.

Mission Take a manual creative production workflow from intake to delivery, re-engineer it as an automation pipeline that delivers consistent, high-quality output at a fraction of the manual time.

Be the named owner of automation deliverables in your capability area accountable for design,

build, test, go-live, and post-go-live stability.

Key Responsibilities

- Discover, document, and re-engineer manual creative production workflows in your assigned

capability area.
- Design and ship automation scripts, plugins, and pipelines using Python, JavaScript, and

Adobe Creative Suite scripting (JSX / ExtendScript / UXP / CEP).
- Integrate GenAI tools into production-grade workflows image, video, and content

generation with proper evaluation and IP-safety guardrails.
- Pair-program with the Mid Developer assigned to your capability area; coach them through

ramp-up and code review.
- Partner with the Solution Architect Lead on reference architecture, tooling choices, shared

libraries, and cross-team patterns.
- Hand off completed automations to the QA & Release Engineer with regression test packs and

runbooks.
- Deliver shippable artefacts within agile sprint cadence; participate fully in design reviews and

demos.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's shared pattern library and prompt

library.

- Stay current with evolving creative tooling (Adobe roadmap, GenAI model releases, LLM-

assisted coding tools) and bring relevant updates into the team. Tech competencies Tier Capability Must-have

Adobe Creative Suite scripting at production-shipped level (one or more of: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects,

Premiere) using ExtendScript / JSX / UXP / CEP plugin framework.

Python at strong working level functions, modules, packages,

OOP, microservices (Flask / FastAPI / Bottle), API integration.

JavaScript / TypeScript at working level required for Adobe

UXP plugin development and modern automation tooling.

Version control discipline: Git, branching strategies, PR reviews.

Working knowledge of JIRA or equivalent issue tracker.

At least one CI/CD or workflow orchestration tool: GitHub

Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, n8n, Airflow, or comparable.

GenAI tooling at hands-on level: at least one of Adobe Firefly

Services API, ComfyUI, Reliable Diffusion, Runway, Midjourney beyond hobbyist; must have shipped GenAI in production.

LLM-assisted development habits: comfortable using Cursor /

Claude Code / GitHub Copilot or equivalent to accelerate build;

understands prompt engineering for code generation.

Demonstrable shipped portfolio scripts, plugins, or pipelines published on GitHub, Adobe Marketplace, aescripts.com, or similar.

Good-to-have

Adobe InDesign Server, data-merge automation, XML-driven publishing pipelines.

Microsoft Office automation: Office Scripts, VBA, Microsoft

Graph API, PowerPoint VBA, Excel automation.

DAM / workflow tools integration: Adobe Workfront, Frame.io,

Bynder, Brandfolder, Canto.

Tier Capability

PDF processing libraries pdfToolbox (callas), Apache PDFBox,

ReportLab, pikepdf, PyMuPDF.

Image processing libraries PIL/Pillow, OpenCV, ImageMagick.

Workflow orchestration platforms n8n, Make.com, Zapier,

IBM Aspera Orchestrator.

Containerization basics Docker, Docker Compose;

comfortable shipping a containerised script.

Cloud basics at least one of AWS / Azure / GCP for serverless functions, blob storage, queues.

Database basics SQL, key-value stores (Redis), basic

Postgres / MySQL.

Exposure /

awareness

LangChain / LangGraph or comparable LLM-orchestration framework.

Vector databases (pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate) for RAG-style retrieval.

Agent frameworks (AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar).

Localisation / transcreation tools and translation memory systems.

Print / packaging pre-flight concepts (CMYK, spot colours, ICC profiles, dielines).

Video pipelines basics FFmpeg, encoding presets, frame.io review API.

Required Experience 6 10 years total experience in software development, creative production engineering, or media workflow automation.

Minimum 3 years writing production-grade automation that other people consume (artists,

producers, project managers).

Public portfolio of shipped automation strongly preferred GitHub repos, Adobe Marketplace listings, aescripts authorship, Figma Community plugins, or equivalent.

Prior experience inside a creative production setting (agency, post-production house,

FMCG/CPG in-house studio, life-sciences content team, or comparable) is a strong plus.

Educational background Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Design, Information Technology, or related field.

OR equivalent demonstrated capability via strong portfolio and 6+ years of relevant work history.

Behavioural attributes Builder-mindset ships daily, breaks small things, fixes them faster. Doesn't talk about automation; does it.

Comfortable on the studio floor with creative practitioners AND in code reviews with engineers speaks both languages.

LLM-native uses AI tools to accelerate development rather than seeing them as a threat.

Has opinions about when to trust LLM output and when to verify.

Curious; asks "can this be a script?" before doing the same task twice.

Coaches without micromanaging; reviews code generously but holds quality lines firmly.

Success metrics Automation rate target achieved for designated capability area within 6 8 months of go-live.

90% of assigned sprint stories shipped on time over a rolling quarter.

10% post-go-live defect rate on shipped scripts (measured on first 30 days post-release).

1 2 production-ready artefacts shipped per quarter (scripts, plugins, or pipelines).

Documented contributions to the team's shared pattern library and prompt library.

Mid Developer in your capability area performing at expected sprint velocity within 90 days of joining.
