Job Title: Senior Bridge Design ROB/RUB Engineer Railway Projects
Department: Design & Engineering
Location: Office
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Bridge Design Engineer with strong expertise in railway bridge design and AutoCAD. The role involves leading bridge design and drafting activities, reviewing structural drawings, coordinating with design teams, and ensuring submission-ready drawings comply with Indian Railways, RDSO, IRS, and IRC standards.
The position is primarily focused on design, technical review, team coordination, and drawing approvals, with no responsibility for site execution or construction supervision.
Key Responsibilities
1. Bridge Design & Drafting
- Lead the preparation of GADs, structural drawings, and reinforcement detailing for railway bridges.
- Review and develop drawings for PSC girders, composite bridges, ROBs, RUBs, piers, abutments, foundations, and other bridge structures.
- Ensure accurate preparation of plans, elevations, cross-sections, and detailed drawings.
2. Railway Standards & Compliance
- Ensure designs and drawings comply with Indian Railways standards, RDSO guidelines, IRS codes, IRC specifications, and Schedule of Dimensions (SOD).
- Review loading requirements, clearances, structural safety, and other applicable railway requirements.
3. Design Coordination
- Coordinate with structural, track, alignment, hydraulics, and other technical teams.
- Review structural analysis outputs and ensure the results are correctly incorporated into drawings.
- Resolve technical issues and provide design inputs to the team.
4. Team Leadership & Technical Review
- Guide and supervise junior bridge engineers and draftsmen.
- Review drawings prepared by the design team for technical accuracy and compliance.
- Identify errors and ensure corrections are completed before submission.
- Maintain drawing quality, standards, and version control.
5. Client & Railway Coordination
- Coordinate with clients, Railway authorities, DFCCIL, RDSO, consultants, and other relevant authorities.
- Attend technical meetings and provide necessary design clarifications.
- Review and address comments received from clients and Railway authorities.
- Ensure timely resubmission of revised drawings.
6. Documentation & Deliverables
- Review and finalise BOQs, design notes, drawing lists, and technical documents.
- Ensure all drawings and documents are submission-ready.
- Maintain proper records of revisions, approvals, and technical correspondence.
7. Quality & Project Management
- Monitor design progress and ensure deliverables are completed within project timelines.
- Ensure proper quality control and adherence to company design procedures.
- Identify design risks and coordinate with the concerned team for timely resolution.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education:
- B.E./B. Tech in Civil Engineering.
- M.E./M. Tech in Structural Engineering / Bridge Engineering will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in bridge design, preferably in railway infrastructure projects.
- Experience in railway bridge GADs, structural drawings, and approval processes is preferred.
Software:
- Expert-level knowledge of AutoCAD 2D.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Auto LISP, BIM tools, or other design software will be an added advantage.
Domain Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of railway bridge components, including:
- PSC and composite girders
- Piers and abutments
- Foundations
- Bearings
- ROBs and RUBs
- SOD clearances
- Ability to read and review structural analysis outputs.
