About the Role
As a Senior BIM Technician, you shall collaboratively develop multi-disciplinary 3D models, ensure compliance with project standards, and support digital coordination activities. You will work closely with BIM Coordinators and Engineers to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality digital outputs, while also mentoring junior team members and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of 3D models using Revit, Civil 3D, and Navisworks.
- Produce detailed 2D drawings, schedules, and visualisations from models.
- Ensure model accuracy, consistency, and compliance with ISO 19650 and project-specific standards.
- Support the creation and review of BEPs, TIDPs, and MIDPs.
- Conduct clash detection and assist in resolution workflows.
Learning and Development
- Deepen understanding of ISO 19650 and digital delivery frameworks.
- Working towards certification as an ISO 19650 BIM Practitioner.
Model Creation and Coordination
- Production and maintenance of coordinated, data-rich 3D models and associated 2D deliverables for water treatment and infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with project-specific BEPs and ISO 19650-compliant workflows.
- Support and contribute to model federation and multidisciplinary coordination, ensuring consistency, and adherence to Level of Information Need (LOIN) requirements.
- Guide the development and review of Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;), Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), and other schematic documentation,
ensuring technical accuracy and integration with project models.
- Contribute to clash resolution, issue tracking, using tools such as Navisworks and ACC Model Coordination.
- Collaborate with BIM Coordinators to implement and refine digital workflows, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with evolving standards.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with the project BIM Coordinator.
- Contribute towards model reviews with the project team.
Standards and Documentation
- Apply and enforce ISO 19650-compliant workflows and documentation.
- Understand the importance of data security to BS EN ISO 27001 in accordance with SWECO policy.
- Support the development and refinement of project standards and templates.
- Maintain accurate records of model development, revisions, and information exchanges.
General Duties
- Deliver high-quality, ISO 19650-compliant digital outputs that meet project timelines, quality benchmarks, and client expectations.
- Maintain comprehensive records of model development, revisions, issue resolution, and data exchanges in accordance with project protocols.
- Uphold and promote data security and information management practices in line with BS EN ISO 19650-5, BS EN ISO 27001 and organisational policies.
- Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives, training sessions, and the development of standardised templates and documentation.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g., Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction).
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Revit, Civil 3D, Plant 3D (desirable, not essential) and Navisworks.
- Valuable understanding of ISO 19650 and BIM Level 2 workflows.
- Experience in clash detection, model validation, and CDE management.
- Excellent communication, and organisational skills.
