Pre-Operative Preparation

- Prepare the OT, surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies before the procedure.

- Check the availability and sterility of required instruments, implants, sutures, and consumables.

- Ensure the surgical trolley is arranged according to the procedure.

- Participate in pre-operative safety and patient identification checks.

- Scrub & Intra-Operative Responsibilities

- Perform surgical hand scrub and maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques.

- Scrub for surgeries and assist the surgeon by providing instruments, sutures, and other required items.

- Anticipate the surgeon’s requirements during the procedure.

- Maintain the sterile field throughout the surgery.

- Ensure proper handling of surgical specimens and hand them over to the concerned staff as per protocol.

- Perform instrument, sponge, needle, and swab counts before, during, and after surgery.

- Infection Control

- Follow OT infection-control protocols and standard precautions.

- Ensure proper sterilization and handling of surgical instruments.

- Maintain cleanliness and sterility of the OT environment and surgical field.

- Report any breach of aseptic technique immediately.

- Post-Operative Responsibilities

- Complete final instrument, swab, sponge, and needle counts.

- Assist with proper cleaning, segregation, and transfer of used instruments for sterilization.

- Ensure the OT is prepared for the next procedure.

- Assist in safe transfer of the patient from OT to the recovery area when required.





- Documentation & Inventory

- Maintain accurate records related to surgeries, instrument counts, consumables, and specimens.

- Monitor surgical consumables and inform the OT in-charge about stock requirements.

- Check expiry dates and proper storage of sterile supplies and consumables.

- Report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning instruments/equipment.Team Coordination & Safety

- Coordinate effectively with surgeons, anesthetists, circulating nurses, and other OT staff.

- Follow hospital policies, surgical safety checklists, and emergency protocols.

- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct.

- Assist during emergency and major surgical procedures as required.

OT Scrub Nurse – Qualifications

- Educational Qualification: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing

- Registration: Valid registration with the respective State Nursing Council is mandatory.

- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience in Operation Theatre / Scrub Nurse role preferred.

- Experience in handling major and minor surgical procedures is preferred.

- Knowledge of aseptic techniques, sterilization procedures, surgical instruments, and OT protocols.

- Valuable understanding of infection control and patient safety practices.

- Ability to work effectively with surgeons, anesthetists, and OT team members.

- Willingness to work in rotational shifts and emergency OT procedures.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
