Role Description The Scratch & Python Mentor (USA Shift) is a full-time remote role focused on teaching coding concepts and practical skills to learners aged 5–18. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting live online classes in Scratch and Python, preparing lesson plans and coding exercises, and adapting teaching approaches to different age groups and skill levels.

The mentor will guide learners through problem-solving tasks, debug code with them, and provide constructive feedback on assignments and projects. Additional responsibilities include tracking learner progress, communicating with parents or guardians as needed,



and collaborating with the academic team to refine curriculum and teaching materials aligned with FcC’s standards of excellence.

Qualifications

- Strong proficiency in Scratch and Python programming, including core concepts, basic algorithms, and project-based application.
- Experience teaching or mentoring children and teenagers in coding or STEM subjects in an online or classroom setting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in straightforward, age-appropriate language.
- Comfort with online teaching tools and remote collaboration platforms; ability to manage interactive virtual classrooms.
- Patience, empathy, and a learner-centered mindset, with a commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory teaching practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Education, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in coding education.
- Willingness to work USA shift hours and maintain a consistent schedule suitable for learners in that time zone.
- Prior experience designing lesson plans, coding projects, or curricula for K–12 learners is a strong plus.
