About the Role

We are looking for an experienced SAP ABAP Lead to join our technology team in Chennai. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in SAP ABAP and S/4HANA development , along with proven experience leading technical teams and driving solution architecture.

The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing scalable SAP solutions, providing technical leadership, mentoring ABAP developers, and collaborating closely with functional consultants, business stakeholders, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and mentor a team of SAP ABAP developers, providing technical direction, guidance, and code reviews.
- Design and develop scalable solutions on SAP S/4HANA using modern ABAP development frameworks.
- Develop and maintain CDS Views, AMDP, and RAP (RESTful Application Programming) solutions.
- Design and develop OData services using SAP NetWeaver Gateway.
- Translate business and functional requirements into robust technical designs and development solutions.
- Lead technical architecture, solution design, and development decisions.
- Ensure adherence to SAP development standards, coding guidelines, design patterns, and best practices.
- Perform performance tuning and optimization using ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC), Runtime Analysis (SAT), SQL Monitor , and related tools.
- Lead technical workshops, solution design sessions, effort estimations, and technical discussions.
- Oversee unit testing, debugging, defect resolution, and deployment activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across SAP applications.
- Collaborate with SAP functional teams, project managers, business users, and other technical teams.
- Contribute to and drive SAP BTP initiatives and integrations where applicable.
- Ensure project deliverables meet quality, performance, security, and maintainability standards.




- Provide technical guidance during production support and critical incident resolution.

Required Technical Skills

- 9–12 years of overall SAP ABAP development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in ABAP and ABAP Objects (ABAP OO) .
- Robust experience with SAP S/4HANA development.
- Expertise in:
- CDS Views
- AMDP
- RAP
- OData
- SAP NetWeaver Gateway
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and Design Patterns .
- Experience with performance optimization and debugging tools such as ATC, SAT/Runtime Analysis , and SQL performance analysis.
- Exposure to SAP BTP and modern SAP development approaches.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving capabilities.
- Good understanding of SAP FI/CO processes and integration points.
- Experience working with SAP functional and technical teams in complex enterprise environments.

- Proven experience leading or mentoring SAP ABAP technical teams.

Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant SAP certifications will be an added advantage.

Preferred Experience Candidates with experience in S/4HANA transformation projects, modern ABAP development, RAP, SAP BTP, and enterprise-scale SAP implementations will be preferred.
