Title: SAM Tool Configuration and Integration Expert

Key Responsibilities

- Review the current SAM platform configuration, architecture, integrations, discovery mechanisms, data flows, and existing technical gaps.
- Configure and optimise ServiceNow SAM Pro or other in-scope SAM tooling based on approved business and operational requirements.
- Configure software models, product definitions, publisher information, entitlement structures, licence metrics, reconciliation rules, and optimisation logic.
- Configure workflows for software requests, approvals, reclamation, licence allocation, renewals, compliance exceptions, and operational remediation.
- Integrate SAM tooling with relevant systems including:
- SCCM/MECM.
- Microsoft Intune.
- Jamf.
- ServiceNow CMDB.
- Procurement platforms.
- ERP/financial systems.
- Contract repositories.
- Active Directory/Entra ID.
- Cloud and SaaS platforms.
- Other approved discovery and inventory sources.

- Assess inventory feeds and resolve missing, duplicate, incomplete, stale, or inconsistent software and device records.
- Improve software recognition and normalisation quality.
- Configure automated data import, transformation, mapping, validation, and exception-handling mechanisms.
- Establish and maintain reconciliation schedules and monitor reconciliation jobs.
- Troubleshoot reconciliation failures, integration errors, discovery gaps, and data quality issues.
- Develop technical solutions to improve inventory visibility within restricted or secure environments.
- Evaluate built-in metering, discovery, and optimisation capabilities for publishers such as Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe, VMware, SAP, and others.
- Where technically feasible,



maximise existing tooling capabilities before recommending additional third-party licences or platforms.
- Configure licence reclamation and optimisation workflows based on usage and allocation criteria.
- Support publisher-specific licence metric configuration and technical validation.
- Develop dashboards, reports, notifications, alerts, and exception views.
- Support technical testing, user acceptance testing, deployment, and production validation.
- Maintain technical configuration documentation, integration specifications, field mappings, and data-flow diagrams.
- Ensure platform changes follow CUSTOMERS change management, security, testing, and release procedures.
- Coordinate with infrastructure, workplace, CMDB, cloud, security, procurement, application, and platform teams.
- Transfer technical knowledge to CUSTOMERS and operational SAM resources.

Required Skills and Experience

- Robust experience with ServiceNow SAM Pro or equivalent enterprise SAM tools.
- Experience with CMDB, discovery, inventory, software normalisation, entitlement, and reconciliation configuration.
- Hands-on experience integrating platforms such as SCCM/MECM, Intune, Jamf, Active Directory/Entra ID, procurement systems, and SaaS/cloud environments.
- Understanding of APIs, web services, data imports, ETL, integration patterns, and data transformation.
- Knowledge of software licence metrics and publisher-specific licensing concepts.
- Strong troubleshooting and data-analysis capabilities.
- ServiceNow SAM, ITAM, CMDB, Discovery, or related certifications are desirable.
