Key Responsibilities
1. RF Communication System Design
- Design RF communication architecture for UAVs and Ground Control Stations.
- Develop long-range command, control, telemetry and payload data links.
- Select RF transceivers, amplifiers, filters, antennas, connectors and other RF components.
- Work on communication links for different UAV ranges and operating environments.
- Perform RF link-budget calculations and system-level RF analysis.
2. FHSS / Secure Communication
- Design and integrate Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) communication systems.
- Develop frequency-hopping schemes and synchronization mechanisms.
- Work on secure and encrypted communication links.
- Experience with AES-128/AES-256 or equivalent encryption is desirable.
- Understand techniques for improving communication reliability in congested and contested RF environments.
3. SDR Development
- Work with Software Defined Radio (SDR) platforms.
- Develop and test SDR-based communication systems.
- Hands-on experience with platforms such as USRP, ADALM-Pluto, HackRF, LimeSDR or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience with GNU Radio, MATLAB/Simulink or similar tools.
- Develop/modify PHY and communication protocols where required.
4. Long-Range UAV Communication
- Develop communication links with 10–50+ km range , depending on application.
- Optimize communication systems for UAV altitude, antenna position, terrain and operating environment.
- Work on high-reliability telemetry and command links.
- Experience with 900 MHz, 1.2 GHz, 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz or other suitable RF bands is desirable.
5. Mesh & Swarm Communication
- Design and integrate mesh/networked communication between multiple UAVs.
- Work on UAV-to-UAV and UAV-to-GCS communication.
- Understand agile routing, network topology and self-healing networks.
- Experience with swarm communication and multi-UAV networking will be a major advantage.
6. Anti-Jamming / EW Awareness
- Understand RF interference, jamming, spoofing and spectrum congestion.
- Develop communication systems with improved resistance to interference.
- Work on frequency agility, adaptive channel selection and link-quality monitoring.
- Experience with EW-resistant communication systems, spectrum sensing or anti-jamming techniques is highly desirable.
7. Antenna & RF Hardware
- Select and integrate omnidirectional and directional antennas for UAVs.
- Understand antenna gain, VSWR, impedance matching, polarization and radiation patterns.
- Work with RF cables, connectors, filters, LNAs, PAs and RF switches.
- Perform antenna placement and RF coexistence analysis on drones.
8. Drone System Integration
- Integrate RF communication systems with:
- Flight Controller
- Companion Computer
- GCS
- Payloads
- EO/IR cameras
- Telemetry systems
- Navigation systems
- Interface RF modules through UART, SPI, Ethernet, CAN, USB and other interfaces.
- Work closely with Embedded, Flight Control and Drone System Engineering teams.
9. Testing & Validation
- Conduct RF range testing and field trials.
- Perform RSSI, SNR, BER,
packet-loss and latency measurements.
- Use RF test equipment for troubleshooting and validation.
- Prepare RF test procedures and technical reports.

RF Test Equipment Experience Candidate should preferably have hands-on experience with equipment such as:
- Spectrum Analyzer
- Vector Network Analyzer (VNA)
- Signal Generator
- RF Power Meter
- Oscilloscope
- Antenna Analyzer
- RF Attenuators / Couplers
- RF Power Amplifier testing equipment
Education
Required:
- B.Tech / M.Tech in Electronics & Communication, Electronics, RF/Microwave Engineering, Telecommunications or related field.
Preferred:
- M.Tech / specialization in RF & Microwave, Wireless Communication, Communication Systems or SDR.
