About Aarla

Aarla is a growing lifestyle brand inspired by Indian art, music and culture. We create thoughtfully designed books, gifts, home décor, apparel and everyday products, and sell through our online store, studio, retail partners, exhibitions and events.

We're looking for two energetic and dependable interns to become part of our day-to-day operations. One person will primarily focus on e-commerce and online operations, while the other will primarily focus on studio, retail and offline operations. Both will work together and step across responsibilities whenever the business requires it.

What you'll do

E-commerce & Online Operations

- Manage and process online orders
- Handle customer enquiries through WhatsApp, Instagram and other channels
- Coordinate packing, shipping, tracking and delivery follow-ups
- Maintain product and inventory information
- Assist with website updates, new product launches and online merchandising
- Ensure customers have a smooth experience from enquiry to delivery

Retail & Offline Operations

- Help manage the day-to-day functioning of the Aarla Studio
- Welcome customers and assist them with products and purchases
- Maintain inventory, product displays and merchandising
- Coordinate with Aarla's retail and distribution partners
- Help prepare for exhibitions, pop-ups and events
- Staff Aarla stalls and represent the brand during exhibitions and other retail opportunities





Working at Aarla Aarla is a small and growing business, so work will not look exactly the same every day.

There will be busy periods with orders, launches, exhibitions or customers requiring everyone to pitch in, and there will also be quieter periods that can be used to organise, learn, improve processes and prepare for what's coming next.

While each intern will have a primary area of responsibility, we're looking for people who are comfortable wearing multiple hats and helping wherever the business needs them.

Who we're looking for

You don't need extensive prior experience. We're looking for people who are dependable, organised, curious, comfortable with customers and willing to take ownership.

Good spoken and written English, basic computer skills and comfort with digital tools are key. Tamil communication skills would be useful. An interest in retail, e-commerce, consumer brands, design or entrepreneurship is a plus.

Important

This is a full-time, in-person role from our studio in Ashok Nagar, Chennai, Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM. Because orders and customers can come in throughout the day, regular attendance is required.

The stipend is ₹10,000–₹12,000 per month + performance-linked incentives. Performance will be evaluated based on reliability, ownership, quality of execution and completion of responsibilities—not attendance alone.
