Role Purpose
As Quality Manager, you will own the end-to-end Quality Assurance and Quality Control function for our woven garment export unit — from fabric and trim inspection through in-line production checks to final pre-shipment sign-off. You will own floor-level QC leadership, keep the plant audit ready at all times, and shift the culture from "catch defects at the end" to "build quality in from the start." This is a senior, high-visibility role reporting directly to factory leadership, with full ownership of quality outcomes across every buyer account.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Governance
- Design, implement,
and continuously improve the plant's Quality Management System (QMS) across sourcing, cutting, sewing, and finishing stages
- Institutionalize AQL-based inspection protocols (in-line, end-line, and pre-shipment) consistent across all buyer accounts
- Set and monitor quality benchmarks at every stage of production against buyer specifications and internal standards
Buyer & Compliance Audits
- Lead internal GMP, C-TPAT, and technical audits, and own factory readiness for buyer-specific technical and social compliance audits (BSCI, SMETA, WRAP)
- Act as the primary quality point of contact for buyers and buying houses, ensuring transparent, timely communication on quality status and audit outcomes
- Ensure ongoing compliance with GMP regulations and applicable statutory and buyer codes of conduct.
Inspection & Defect Management
- Oversee fabric and trim inward inspection, PP meeting sign-off, in-line/mid-line checks, and final random inspection before shipment
- Drive root cause analysis for recurring defects and institutionalize a CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) system to close the loop
- Work to reduce the gap between pre-final and final inspection outcomes, minimizing last-mile rejections
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, mentor, and build capability across Quality Controllers, Line In-Charges, and shop-floor quality staff
- Design and deliver structured training calendars to raise quality awareness and technical skill at the grassroots level
- Build a strong bench of quality talent to support the unit's growth and buyer expansion
Reporting & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Publish timely, accurate MIS — rejection %, DHU, CAPA closure rate, and other critical quality parameters — to plant and group leadership
- Partner closely with Merchandising and Production on TNA-linked quality checkpoints and shipment readiness
Candidate Profile
Education
- Degree/Diploma in Textile or Apparel Technology preferred; any degree considered with strong relevant experience
Experience
- 12 – 18 years of progressive quality assurance / control experience in woven garments manufacturing unit (export-oriented unit preferred) with strong hands-on exposure to woven fabrics (top and bottom wear).
- Proven track record leading buyer technical and compliance audits (C-TPAT, GMP, BSCI/SMETA) in an export-oriented unit
- Working knowledge of AQL inspection standards, 4-point fabric inspection systems, and CAPA-driven quality management
- Strong people leadership — demonstrated ability to build and upskill quality teams at scale
- Excellent communication skills, with experience in liaising directly with international buyers and buying houses
- Data-driven approach to quality — comfortable owning MIS, dashboards, and defect-trend analysis
