QA Engineer

Role Summary The QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software products through systematic testing. This role works closely with developers, senior QA engineers, and product managers to identify defects, verify fixes, and help maintain high quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle. It is an excellent entry point for someone looking to build a career in quality assurance and software testing.

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Quality Assurance

- Execute manual test cases for web and/or mobile applications based on requirements and user stories
- Perform functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing
- Identify, document, and track software defects/bugs using bug-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps)
- Verify bug fixes and perform re-testing before release
- Assist in creating and maintaining test cases, test plans, and test scripts

Collaboration

- Work closely with developers to understand feature requirements and technical implementation
- Communicate testing results, risks, and quality concerns clearly to the team
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings (if working in Agile/Scrum)
- Collaborate with senior QA engineers to learn best practices and testing methodologies

Test Documentation

- Write clear, detailed bug reports including steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual results, and screenshots/logs
- Maintain and update test case documentation as features evolve




- Contribute to test summary reports at the end of each testing cycle

Learning & Skill Development

- Learn and gradually apply automation testing tools/frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) under guidance
- Stay updated on QA best practices, tools, and industry trends
- Take initiative to learn the product/domain to test more effectively

Process Adherence

- Follow established QA processes, standards, and testing methodologies
- Ensure test coverage aligns with acceptance criteria and requirements
- Support release readiness by validating builds before deployment

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Basic understanding of software testing concepts (test case design, defect life cycle, testing types)
- Familiarity with bug tracking tools (Jira, Trello, or similar) is a plus
- Basic knowledge of SQL for data validation is a plus
- Understanding of SDLC and STLC (Software/Testing Life Cycle)
- Valuable analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn automation testing tools (Selenium, Cypress, Postman, etc.)

Nice to Have

- Internship or academic project experience in software testing
- Basic scripting knowledge (Python, JavaScript, or Java)
- Exposure to API testing (Postman, REST Assured)
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodology
