- Handle day-to-day purchase of gold jewellery, bullion, silver, diamonds, gemstones and jewellery components as required.
- Coordinate with goldsmiths, manufacturers, wholesalers and jewellery suppliers for quotations, orders and deliveries.
- Have practical knowledge of gold purity, karatage (22K, 18K, 14K), hallmarking and fineness.
- Understand the gold melting process, including melting of old/unused jewellery, recovery of gold and basic melting calculations.
- Have knowledge of MOD (melting/old-gold process), including understanding of melting lots, purity testing, weight reconciliation and recovery.
- Verify gross weight, net weight, stone weight and gold weight while purchasing jewellery.
- Understand different types of jewellery such as chains, bangles, rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, nose pins, etc.
- Understand jewellery making charges, wastage, labour charges, stone charges and other purchase-related costs.
- Check supplier invoices, purchase bills,
delivery challans and maintain proper purchase records and documentation.
- Compare supplier rates and negotiate gold rates, making charges, wastage, labour charges and other commercial terms.
- Coordinate with the accounts, inventory and manufacturing teams for purchase entries, stock reconciliation and payment processing.
- Verify received jewellery against the purchase order, invoice and physical quantity/weight.
- Maintain records of supplier-wise purchases, pending orders, returns, shortages and discrepancies.
- Follow up with suppliers for pending deliveries, quality issues, corrections and replacement of jewellery.
- Assist in stock reconciliation and physical verification of gold and jewellery.
- Ensure purchased jewellery meets the company's quality, design and purity requirements.
- Maintain good relationships with existing suppliers and identify reliable current jewellery vendors.
