Job Purpose To manage end-to-end procurement of engineering materials and components by ensuring the right quality, cost, quantity and delivery while developing reliable suppliers and driving continuous cost reduction.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage procurement of mechanical, electrical, fabricated, machined and bought-out components as per production requirements.

- Float RFQs, evaluate quotations and prepare comparative statements for commercial and technical evaluation.

- Negotiate price, payment terms, lead time, MOQ and other commercial terms with suppliers.

- Develop and maintain a reliable vendor base for existing and new components.

- Identify new suppliers and conduct vendor evaluation, qualification and development.

- Release and manage Purchase Orders in SAP/ERP and ensure timely order execution.

- Coordinate with PPC, Production, Design, Quality, Stores and Accounts for procurement requirements and issue resolution.

- Monitor supplier commitments, material lead times and ensure on-time delivery.

- Drive cost reduction, alternate sourcing and value engineering initiatives.

- Analyse purchase prices, historical rates and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.

- Ensure procurement is aligned with BOM, drawings, specifications and quality requirements.

- Handle supplier-related issues such as delays,



quality concerns, price revisions and shortages.

- Maintain procurement records, vendor data, rate contracts and MIS reports.

- Track and improve supplier performance based on quality, cost and delivery parameters.

- Support annual budgeting, procurement planning and management reporting.

Required Skills;

- Strong vendor development and negotiation skills.

- Good understanding of engineering components and manufacturing processes.

- Ability to read and understand BOMs, engineering drawings and technical specifications.

- Knowledge of SAP MM / ERP procurement processes.

- Robust MS Excel and data analysis skills.

- Good commercial and cost-analysis ability.

- Strong coordination and communication skills.

- Problem-solving and decision-making ability.

- Ability to manage multiple procurement priorities independently.

Preferred candidate profile

- 3-6 years of experience in Purchase / Procurement in a manufacturing or engineering industry.

- Experience in procurement of machined, fabricated, sheet-metal, electrical and bought-out components will be preferred.

- Experience in vendor development, cost negotiation and cost reduction is essential.

- Hands-on experience in SAP is preferred.
