Position: Project Manager – Elderly Inclusion and Empowerment
Location: Patna, Bihar
HelpAge India and Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society (BRLPS) have entered into a partnership to support the formation and strengthening of Elder Self‑Help Groups under an elderly inclusion initiative.
Role Overview:
This position will provide dedicated technical and coordination support for planning, capacity building and implementation related to elderly inclusion programme of BRLPS in Bihar. The position will act as the primary technical and operational resource
for integrating elderly inclusion into BRLPS programmes. The role will ensure that Elder Self-Help Groups are promoted, strengthened and bridge the gap between policy intent and on-ground execution by coordinating between BRLPS
teams, HelpAge India and community institutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Programme Coordination
- Liaise between BRLPS and HelpAge India teams for smooth planning and execution of elderly inclusion activities.
- Track implementation progress in pilot blocks and escalate issues.
- To provide support in organise exposure visits, trainings and immersion programmes.
2. Capacity Building & Training
- Facilitate and support in training programmes for BRLPS staff, Village Organisations (VOs), Community Resource Persons (CRPs), and village volunteers on elderly inclusion concepts, ESHG formation, and management.
- Assist in preparing training materials, case studies, and IEC resources for elderly inclusion.
- Facilitate exposure visits to HelpAge India’s best-practice sites for BRLPS staff and community members.
3. Technical & Field Support
- Support the adoption of existing ESHGs under the NRLM framework and help facilitate linkages to Revolving Fund (RF) and Community Investment Fund (CIF) through VOs.
- Provide on-site guidance to block/district teams and CRPs for ESHG formation, record-keeping,
and livelihood integration.
4. Stakeholder Engagement
- Participate in state & district level review and planning meetings.
- Maintain effective working relationships with district and block teams.
- Requirements
Education/Skills/ Experience required
- Postgraduate/Graduate degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Development Studies or social sciences with relevant experience.
- 5-8 years in rural livelihoods, SHG promotion, or social inclusion programmes, preferably with government or large-scale NGO projects.
- Good facilitation and training skills.
- Strong communication and coordination abilities.
- Knowledge of MS Office and data reporting.
- Willingness to travel extensively within Bihar.
- Proficiency in Hindi (mandatory) and English.
