Bibliotheken spelen een cruciale rol in een samenleving die steeds digitaler, diverser en complexer wordt. Waar bibliotheken ooit vooral bekend stonden als bewaarplaatsen van kennis, zijn zij inmiddels uitgegroeid tot publieke voorzieningen die bijdragen aan sociale cohesie, digitale inclusie, democratische participatie en gelijke toegang tot informatie. Tegelijkertijd staan zij voor fundamentele vragen over hun toekomstbestendige rol in een snel veranderende wereld.

Als Professor of Practice Future of Libraries lever je een belangrijke bijdrage aan het beantwoorden van deze vragen. Vanuit de Faculteit Industrieel Ontwerpen bouw je bruggen tussen wetenschap, ontwerppraktijk, beleid en de bibliotheeksector. Je ontwikkelt een toekomstgerichte visie op de rol van bibliotheken en vertaalt maatschappelijke uitdagingen naar onderzoek, onderwijs en innovatie.

Je initieert en ontwikkelt nieuwe samenwerkingen met bibliotheken, overheden, maatschappelijke organisaties en andere partners. Daarbij weet je praktijkvraagstukken te verbinden aan academisch onderzoek en onderwijs. Je speelt een actieve rol in het verwerven van financiering voor onderzoeks- en innovatieprojecten en brengt partijen samen in nationale en internationale consortia.

Daarnaast versterk je de kennisbasis rondom de toekomst van bibliotheken door onderzoek te stimuleren en toepasbare ontwerpbenaderingen, inzichten en beleidsaanbevelingen te ontwikkelen. Met jouw expertise en netwerk draag je bij aan onderzoeksprogramma’s binnen en buiten de faculteit en zorg je ervoor dat wetenschappelijke kennis daadwerkelijk impact heeft op de praktijk.

Ook speel je een zichtbare rol in het onderwijs. Je inspireert en begeleidt studenten via colleges, ontwerpstudio’s, projecten en gastlezingen. Zo help je een nieuwe generatie ontwerpers en ingenieurs om maatschappelijke vraagstukken rond informatie, inclusie en publieke voorzieningen te begrijpen en aan te pakken.

Buiten de universiteit ben je een herkenbare en invloedrijke stem binnen het nationale bibliotheeklandschap. Je neemt actief deel aan maatschappelijke en beleidsmatige discussies en onderhoudt sterke relaties met ministeries, brancheorganisaties, bibliotheken en andere publieke partners.

Functie-eisen

- Je bent een toonaangevende professional binnen het domein van openbare bibliotheken en hebt een sterk trackrecord in het realiseren van maatschappelijke impact.
- Je hebt aantoonbare kennis van en affiniteit met bibliotheekwetenschap, informatiewetenschap, digitaal en cultureel erfgoed, ontwerp of aanverwante vakgebieden.
- Je beschikt bij voorkeur over een PhD in een relevant vakgebied, maar dit is geen vereiste.
- Je hebt ruime ervaring met het initiëren, leiden en ontwikkelen van onderzoeks-, innovatie- of veranderprogramma’s.
- Je hebt aantoonbare ervaring met het verwerven van onderzoeks- en projectfinanciering.
- Je werkt graag interdisciplinair en hebt ervaring met samenwerking tussen wetenschap, praktijk en maatschappelijke partners.
- Je bent een inspirerende communicator die moeiteloos schakelt tussen onderzoekers, professionals, beleidsmakers en een breed publiek.
- Je beschikt over een sterk en relevant netwerk binnen de bibliotheeksector, overheid en maatschappelijke organisaties.
- Je beheerst de Nederlandse taal uitstekend en kunt je ook goed uitdrukken in het Engels.

Het betreft een tijdelijke deeltijdfunctie die extern wordt gefinancierd door de KB Nationale Bibliotheek.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

- Een functieomvang van 0,4 FTE met 15,2 uur per week.
- Een salaris dat is gebaseerd op schaal 14 uit de CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten met salaris tussen €6835 - €8673 bruto per maand op basis van een volledige werkweek (38 uur), plus 8% vakantiegeld en een eindejaarsuitkering van 8,3%.
- Een uitstekende pensioenregeling via het ABP.
- De mogelijkheid om jaarlijks een individueel arbeidsvoorwaardenpakket samen te stellen.
- Korting bij zorgverzekeraars op aanvullende pakketten.
- Jaarlijks 232 verlofuren (bij 38 uur). Via het individueel keuzebudget kun je bovendien verlofuren verkopen of bijkopen.
- Volop mogelijkheden om opleidingen, trainingen en cursussen te volgen.
- Gedeeltelijk doorbetaald ouderschapsverlof.
