VACANCY FOR
PRODUCTION MANAGER (RUBBER MOLDING PLANT)
Company Description
Established in 2009, Revata Engineering is a well-recognized manufacturer and supplier of Elastomer / Rubber parts for the Oil & Gas industry. The company’s head office and manufacturing facility is in M.I.D.C., Bhosari, Pune. Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015, and we operate an in-house NABL-accredited testing laboratory, serving customers in India and overseas.
Role Description
We are seeking a hands-on Production Manager to own day-to-day manufacturing execution at our rubber molding plant. Reporting to the Operations Manager / Managing Director, the Production Manager will be responsible for running the complete production chain — mixing, preforming, molding, post-curing, deflashing, and finishing, including rubber-to-metal bonded components — so that the daily production plan is delivered in full, at the right quality, with complete process documentation and traceability.
While the Operations Manager coordinates the working of all plant departments, the Production Manager is the execution owner on the shop floor: converting the production plan into machine-wise and shift-wise schedules, enforcing SOPs and control plans at every press, running structured daily reviews at the line level, and developing shift supervisors and operators into a disciplined, accountable production team.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute the production plan by preparing machine-wise and shift-wise loading schedules across mixing, preforming, molding, post-curing, and finishing, and deliver daily output targets on time and in full.
- Ensure only release-tested compounds are issued and consumed within shelf life on FIFO basis, with correct blank weights and material accounting to control consumption, flash, and scrap.
- Enforce approved process parameters — temperature, cure time, pressure, and post-cure cycles — as per control plans at every press,
with first-off approval before production runs and complete route card and batch records for full traceability.
- Run structured daily management on the shop floor: shift handovers, hourly production monitoring, daily line-level review of output, rejection, and downtime, and same-day escalation of abnormalities.
- Reduce rejection at source by analyzing defects press-wise, mold-wise, and operator-wise, driving countermeasures jointly with Quality, and giving structured feedback on mold condition to Engineering.
- Plan mold changeovers to minimize press downtime, and coordinate preventive maintenance windows and new mold trial slots with Engineering without compromising delivery commitments.
- Manage shift manpower — supervisors, operators, and contract workforce — including deployment, attendance discipline, skill matrix, multi-skilling, and structured on-the-job training.
- Maintain 5S across all production areas and drive kaizen and poka-yoke initiatives targeting rejection, downtime, and changeover time.
- Ensure safe working practices in press operation, material handling, and chemical handling, with disciplined use of PPE across all shifts.
- Report daily production, rejection, downtime, and manpower performance against plan to the Operations Manager / Managing Director, with reasons and corrective actions.
Who Should Apply
Candidates who have personally run production in a rubber molding plant — planning presses shift-wise, standing on the shop floor,
and delivering daily targets — and have grown from supervising shifts to managing the complete production function. The role calls for a firm, hands-on leader who combines robust technical grounding in the molding process with the ability to build disciplined, well-trained shift teams. Only candidates with rubber molding industry experience will be considered.
Qualifications
- Diploma / BE / BTech in Polymer or Rubber Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 6–10 years of experience in rubber molding production, including at least 3 years leading shift or section teams.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of compression, transfer, and injection molding, including press parameter setting, mold handling, and defect diagnosis.
- Working knowledge of rubber compound behavior — cure characteristics, scorch, and shelf life — with the ability to read rheometer and batch release reports.
- Experience in post-curing, deflashing, finishing, and in-process inspection of molded components.
- Proven experience in shift planning, production reporting, and daily management systems on the shop floor.
- Hands-on experience implementing 5S, kaizen, and poka-yoke; working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 documentation and exposure to customer audits will be an advantage.
- Exposure to rubber-to-metal bonded components and oil & gas grade elastomers (NBR, HNBR, FKM) will be an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and disciplined documentation practices.
- Fluency in English and Marathi or Hindi, with the ability to lead teams on the shop floor and maintain production records in English.
