Position Overview:

The Production Manager will be responsible for leading the entire production operations of the plant, ensuring efficient utilization of manpower, machines, and materials to achieve the companys production targets. The role demands strong technical knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, hands-on leadership, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across all production functions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Control:

- Prepare and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans aligned with customer delivery schedules.
- Ensure balanced resource allocation for Press Shop, Welding, CNC, Powder Coating, Casting and Galvanizing areas.
- Monitor production KPIs output, efficiency, downtime, scrap rate, and delivery adherence.
- Coordinate closely with Planning, Procurement, Quality, and Maintenance teams to avoid production delays.
- Ensure effective utilization of SAP and ERP systems for production scheduling and reporting.

2. Process & Operations Management:

- Supervise all production activities across sheet metal fabrication, CNC punching, laser cutting, bending, welding, surface treatment, powder coating, and hot dip galvanizing units.




- Optimize setup and cycle times to increase throughput and reduce bottlenecks.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each process.
- Analyze and eliminate process rework and quality defects in coordination with the Quality team.

3. Quality & Continuous Improvement:

- Drive zero-defect and right-first-time culture on the shop floor.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and TPM practices to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Quality Department to maintain ISO/TS/IATF standards.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for rejections, breakdowns, and customer complaints.

4. Manpower & Team Management:

- Lead and motivate a team of supervisors, engineers, and operators across multiple shifts.
- Conduct performance reviews, skill assessments, and training programs.
- Foster a disciplined, safety-conscious, and performance-oriented shop-floor culture.
- Manage shift rosters and overtime to meet production demand efficiently.

5. Safety & Compliance:

- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks, safety audits, and risk assessments.
- Ensure safe handling of materials, tools, and equipment in all production areas.

6. Cost & Inventory Management:

- Monitor production cost, energy consumption, and material usage to meet cost targets.
- Control wastage of raw materials, consumables, and paint/powder materials.
- Support cost-reduction projects and process automation initiatives.




- Work with the purchase team to manage material inventory levels and avoid stockouts.

Required Skills & Competencies:

- In-depth knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, press tools, welding techniques (MIG/TIG/Spot), CNC machining, and surface finishing.
- Robust understanding of production planning, plant layout, capacity management, and material flow.
- Proficient in MS Office, SAP, ERP/MRP systems, and production analysis tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership with effective communication, team building, and conflict management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, maintain priorities, and deliver results under tight timelines.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Educational Qualification: M.Tech/B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 8–15 years in sheet metal manufacturing, with hands-on experience in press shop, CNC punching, bending, welding, powder coating, casting and galvanizing operations.
- Prior experience in automotive, fabrication, or engineering component industries preferred.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, ISO 9001, and TPM environments will be an added advantage.
