JOB TITLE: Product Merchandiser

FUNCTIONAL AREA: Design

REPORTS TO: Creative Head

POSITION’S OBJECTIVE: (Brief on position’s objective)

To independently manage product development from design brief to sample closure, with strong ownership of product costing, vendor management, sampling coordination, tracker discipline and timely execution in close coordination with designers and production partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

MAIN KEY REQUIREMENTS

- Product Costing: Prepare, negotiate and close accurate product costings while protecting the required gross margin and price architecture.
- Vendor Management: Manage vendors and production houses for timelines, quality, costing, capacity, follow-ups and timely issue resolution.
- Sampling Coordination: Coordinate closely with designers, vendors, fabric teams and production houses to execute and close sampling as per the option plan, buy plan and T&A; calendar.
- Designer Coordination: Work closely with designers, translate design inputs into actionable sampling requirements and ensure samples are completed correctly and on time.
- Excel Proficiency: Excellent command of Microsoft Excel, including trackers, costing sheets, option plans, range plans, purchase orders, reports, pivots, lookups and data analysis.

Range Development

- Help in creating Mood Boards and themes for the season
- Sampling based on the Buy Plan req. as per the T&A.; Spec creation. Releasing excel POs. Sending tech packs to PHs
- Coordinate with designers and PHs to translate the design brief into actionable product development and ensure timely sample execution and closure




- Work on new product development for new Business based on design brief, option plan , range plan
- Coordinate with fabric PHs, weavers and vendors to arrange sampling yardages, trims and other inputs within agreed timelines
- Maintain the right mix of silhouettes, fabrics, cuts, sleeves, necklines etc. in samples based on the buy plan
- Trend Analysis - Regular Market & Competitor analysis to ensure ranges & pricing is in keeping with the market trends
- Prepare, negotiate and close product costings to maintain the required GP, target price and commercial viability
- Create, maintain and update the sampling tracker in real time, with transparent status, ownership, timelines, pending actions and escalation points
- Work on new product development for Occasion Wear based on design brief, option plan , range plan

Range Review/Presentation:

- Drive sampling follow-ups with designers and vendors to ensure receipt of all samples with correct fabrics, trims, workmanship and specifications as per agreed timelines
- Timely colourway closures
- Prepare for internal range presentations up to the MRH & consolidate feedback on the range
- Photoshoot and cataloguing of new range

- Create & present a range as per the option plan & price mix
- Fabric innovation as well as core fabric representation in the range
- Silhouette Innovation

Production

- Colourway Closure, Style Detailing, Product changes pre MRH to be completed and handed over to Production
- Help support Design Input in case of Fast Chase opportunities
- Review Fabric qualities with Fabric team before ordering and work
- Assist the production team in working on CAD consumptions
- Assist in diluting the fabric stock as per the requirement
- Support PH/vendor allocation based on capability, costing, quality, capacity and delivery performance

Documentation:

- Prepare and maintain fabric charts , SAP documentation.
- Product Range Catalogue
- Timely return of rejected samples and documentation per SPPI requirement
- Archiving all Designer/comp samples for future discussion/reference

JOB SPECIFICATION: (QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE)

- Years of Functional Experience: 5 - 8 years of work experience in Merchandising, Sampling, Product development
- Degree/Diploma: B. Ftech / M. Ftech / BE Textiles / BSc Home Science
