Job Requirements About the Role

As a Principal Data Analyst in the Data & Analytics function at IDFC FIRST Bank, you will play a strategic role in driving data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will leverage advanced analytics, statistical modelling, machine learning, and optimization techniques to solve complex business problems. In addition to hands-on analytics, you will provide technical leadership, mentor peers, and contribute to the bank’s data strategy and innovation agenda.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

- Act as the chief authority in data analysis and reporting, ensuring analytical outputs meet business and regulatory standards.
- Partner with the Head of Analytics to align reporting and insights with strategic priorities.
- Lead complex analyses across portfolios (assets, liabilities, credit cards, etc.) and deliver actionable insights for senior management.
- Review and challenge outputs from Leads and Senior Analysts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.
- Define best practices, frameworks, and standards for modelling, MIS, dashboards, and analytical reporting across the bank.
- Mentor and coach Leads and Senior Analysts, building technical and business domain depth.
- Drive automation and modernization of MIS and dashboards to enhance speed and efficiency.
- Ensure regulatory reporting (RBI/SEBI/other authorities) is accurate, consistent, and audit-ready.
- Collaborate with data engineering and governance teams to improve data quality, lineage, and availability.
- Research and introduce new tools, visualization methods, and analytics practices to strengthen insight generation.




- Represent the analytics function in key cross-functional projects, regulatory reviews, and senior forums.
- Ensure alignment of analytical solutions with broader business objectives and data governance standards.

Managerial & Leadership Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to the engineering and analytics teams.
- Collaborate with sales and client partners to develop new business opportunities and manage existing relationships.
- Contribute to thought leadership in the data and analytics space through white papers, presentations, and industry forums.

What We Are Looking For

Education

- Bachelor’s Degreein BSC or B.Tech or BCA
- Postgraduate Degreein M.SC or M.Tech or MCA or MA

Experience

- 10+ years of relevant experiencein data analytics, data engineering, or related fields, with a strong background in advanced analytics and automation.

Skills and Attributes
- Expertise in data analysis, statistical modelling, and machine learning.
- Robust programming skills in Python, Shell, PERL, and other scripting languages.
- Experience with metadata management, orchestration tools, and server automation.
- Ability to design and implement scalable, automated data solutions.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proven leadership in cross-functional teams and client-facing roles.
