Role Description The Postdoctoral Researcher will conduct independent and cooperative research within one of IIT Gandhinagar’s focus disciplines, contributing to high-quality publications and conference presentations. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and executing experiments or theoretical studies, analyzing data, engaging with relevant literature, and advancing the research objectives of the host department or research group. The role also involves mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, assisting in proposal writing, and participating in seminars, workshops, and interdisciplinary initiatives across the institute.

Researcher is expected to engage in academic service activities such as organizing research events and supporting laboratory or project management when required. This is a full-time, on-site role based at IIT Gandhinagar, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Qualifications

Completed PhD in a relevant discipline (engineering, sciences, or humanities and social sciences) from a recognized institution.

Strong research background demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, or equivalent scholarly output.

Proficiency in research methodologies and analytical techniques appropriate to the candidate’s field (experimental, computational, theoretical, or qualitative).

Ability to design and manage research projects, including data collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of results.

Effective written and oral communication skills for academic writing, grant proposals, and presentations to diverse audiences.

Experience in mentoring or supervising students, and working collaboratively within multidisciplinary or cross-institutional teams.

Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet research milestones and deadlines.

Commitment to ethical research practices, academic integrity, and maintaining an inclusive, respectful work environment.

Desirable: Prior postdoctoral or advanced research experience, familiarity with international collaborations, and openness to interdisciplinary research across science, engineering, and humanities.
