Role Description The Playwright Tester role is a full time, hybrid. This role focuses on reviewing, testing, and validating scripts, plays, and dramatic material to ensure quality, consistency, and suitability for production or client requirements.

Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing scripts for structure, character development, and thematic coherence; providing constructive feedback to writers and creative teams; and documenting findings and recommendations in clear, actionable reports.

The Playwright

Tester collaborates closely with dramaturgs, directors,



and other stakeholders to refine content, resolve narrative issues, and align material with project goals and audience expectations. The role may also involve participating in table reads, workshops, and rehearsals to evaluate how scripts perform in practice and suggest revisions.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in playwriting and scriptwriting, with the ability to assess narrative structure, dialogue, and pacing.
- Experience working with plays and drama, including familiarity with different genres, styles, and theatrical conventions.
- Background in dramaturgy or script analysis, with skills in researching context, themes, and character arcs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for providing clear, constructive feedback and documentation.
- Attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to identify inconsistencies, gaps, or improvement areas in scripts.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with creative and technical teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Literature, Theatre/Drama, Performing Arts, Creative Writing, or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience in theatre production, script reviewing, or content testing is an advantage.
