Primary Purpose To ensure the safe, effective, and timely dispensing of medications while maintaining compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards.

Key Responsibilities1. Medication Dispensing

- Dispense medicines accurately as per valid prescriptions.
- Verify dosage, strength, route, frequency, and duration before dispensing.
- Ensure the "Right Patient, Right Drug, Right Dose, Right Route, and Right Time."
- Explain medication usage, dosage, precautions, and possible side effects to patients.

1. Prescription Review

- Review prescriptions for completeness and accuracy.
- Identify potential drug interactions, allergies, duplicate therapies, or contraindications.
- Clarify unclear prescriptions with the prescribing doctor before dispensing.

1. Inventory Management

- Maintain adequate stock of medicines and consumables.
- Monitor stock levels and initiate timely procurement.
- Check expiry dates regularly and remove expired or damaged medicines.
- Maintain FEFO (First Expiry First Out) practices.
- Conduct periodic stock verification and reconciliation.

1. Storage and Handling

- Store medicines according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Maintain cold-chain products within prescribed temperatures.
- Ensure narcotic and controlled drugs are stored securely as per statutory guidelines.

1. Documentation

- Maintain dispensing records accurately.
- Record narcotic and controlled drug transactions.
- Maintain purchase, issue, and stock registers.
- Prepare monthly inventory and consumption reports.

1. Patient Counseling

- Educate patients regarding:
- Dosage and administration
- Storage conditions
- Missed doses




- Possible side effects
- Drug-food interactions
- Drug-drug interactions

1. Medication Safety

- Report medication errors and near-miss incidents.
- Participate in medication safety initiatives.
- Assist in adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting.

1. Regulatory Compliance

- Comply with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and applicable pharmacy regulations.
- Maintain valid pharmacist registration.
- Follow NABH standards and hospital pharmacy protocols.
- Ensure all statutory records are maintained properly.

1. Coordination

- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, purchase department, and stores.
- Support emergency medication requirements.
- Assist clinical departments in medication availability.

1. Quality Assurance

- Participate in pharmacy audits.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Assist during NABH inspections and statutory audits.

1. Emergency Duties

- Provide pharmaceutical support during emergencies.
- Ensure availability of emergency drugs and crash cart medications.
- Monitor emergency drug expiry dates.

1. Billing & Software

- Process pharmacy billing accurately.
- Update inventory in Hospital Information System (HIS).
- Generate daily and monthly pharmacy reports.

1. Infection Control

- Follow infection prevention and control practices.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the pharmacy.
- Dispose of pharmaceutical waste as per hospital policy.

1. Training & Continuous Learning

- Attend CME, pharmacy training, and departmental meetings.
- Keep updated with new medications and treatment guidelines.

Pay: ₹17,274.45 - ₹20,344.96 per month
