About Subhas Chandra Bose Chair on International Relations An initiative of the School of Law, Governance and Public Policy, represents a pioneering initiative poised to redefine the discourse surrounding the dynamic complexities of 21st-century International Relations. Rooted firmly within the burgeoning landscape of Indian strategic culture, its mandate is to invigorate India’s rising trajectory in global affairs through the infusion of innovative ideas and acute analysis. With a keen focus on Asia as the definitive continent of this era, mirroring Europe’s influence in the 19th century and America’s dominance in the 20th, the Chair aims to articulate India’s perspective on emerging global priorities.

As a vanguard research platform, the Chair aspires to set and correct the agenda for International Relations in Asia.

The Chair is driven by three overarching goals: to identify and champion high-impact interdisciplinary research, to equip advanced learners and researchers with expertise in key international relations domains, and to foster partnerships and a collaborative community dedicated to driving research and innovation forward. Non-Resident Fellowship Programme The Subhas Chandra Bose Chair of International Relations at Chanakya University, Bengaluru, offers a structured fellowship programme for research for one year. The programme is designed to support emerging research scholars engaged in areas of International Relations specifically Neighbourhood Studies, China Studies, South Asian, Southeast Asian Studies, and West Asian Studies, and other related fields.



The fellowship provides a platform for young researchers on India’s neighbourhood and foreign policy to deepen their research interests.

Structure and Expectations The Non-Resident Fellowship is offered for a duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on mutual agreement and the nature of the research work. The fellowship is primarily intended for research scholars working on China, India’s neighbourhood, extended neighbourhood, and other research areas of the Chair.

Expectations

· The Fellow will be expected to complete the proposed project.

· The Fellow will be expected to actively engage with ongoing research and academic activities of the Chair.

· The Fellow may also contribute to the Chair’s broader initiatives, including academic events, seminars, and team-oriented discussions, depending on institutional requirements.

· A fortnightly progress report must be submitted to the designated faculty coordinator to ensure steady academic progress.

Who can apply?

a) Applicants must have completed their Masters.

b) Applicants must possess a keen interest in IR, China, Neighbourhood and Extended Neighbourhood Studies, and other research priorities of the Chair c) Language proficiency in any of the related geographical region would be an added advantage.

d) Applicants must be interested in and demonstrate the ability to take up research as well as organisational tasks.

Application requirements during the first round of the interview:

a) Curriculum Vitae (CV).

b) A writing sample of not more than 2000 words (if available).

c) A Research Statement/Proposal.

d) One letter of recommendation.
