Mechanical Designer translates functional requirements and specifications into tangible physical products using 3D CAD software. They bridge abstract ideas and real-world manufacturing, owning the geometry, material selection, and tolerance allocation for parts and assemblies.Key ResponsibilitiesCAD Modeling & Detailing: Create and modify detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using tools like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or CATIA.Design Validation: Conduct structural, thermal, and kinematic simulations, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), to test and optimize designs before prototyping.Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Ensure parts are designed for cost-effective, manufacturable processes (e.g., injection molding, casting, machining).GD&T; Application: Apply exact Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;) to ensure parts mate correctly during final assembly.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with procurement,
manufacturing, and electrical teams to integrate mechanical systems and resolve production or supply chain issues.Documentation & Compliance: Maintain design records, bills of materials (BOMs), and ensure all designs comply with relevant industry safety regulations.Essential QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a closely related field.Software Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with industry-standard CAD suites (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360, Siemens NX).Analytical Skills: Solid understanding of physics, mechanics, and mathematics.Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking for troubleshooting mechanical issues and redesigning for performance or cost improvements.
