This is a mechanical engineering ownership role, not a CAD drafting position. You will convert product and customer requirements into safe, robust, serviceable and manufacturable industrial machinesfrom concept layout through released drawings, BOM, prototype build, design correction and final documentation.

From its Hyderabad engineering and manufacturing base, the company develops machine vision inspection systems, precision measuring products and custom automation equipmentdesigned largely in-house and engineered in SolidWorks.
- Machine vision platforms: Bottle Inspection Systems (BIS), Cap Inspection Systems (CIS), Label Inspection Systems and Induction Seal Integrity Verification Systems (ISIVS).
- Custom vision inspection machines and industrial automation solutions for packaging, pharmaceutical, food, beverage, plastics and precision-engineering applications.
- Metrology products including Vision Measuring Machines, Optical Profile Projectors and related precision equipment.
Role purpose
- Own the complete mechanical design lifecycle for new products, custom machines and improvements to installed product platforms.
- Translate functional concepts into 3D designs, verified assemblies, manufacturing drawings, controlled BOMs and build-ready release packages.
- Create standardized, reusable and well-documented engineering that improves reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, cost and appearance.
PRIMARY SCREENING REQUIREMENT Demonstrable expert-level SolidWorks capability and evidence of taking industrial equipment from concept to manufacturing release. CAD-only drafting experience is insufficient.
1. Complete Machine & Product Design Ownership Mechanical architecture and product design
- Design complete mechanical systems for machine vision inspection equipment, industrial automation, SPMs and precision metrology products.
- Develop machine frames and structures, camera mounts, lighting enclosures and adjustment mechanisms, conveyor assemblies, guarding, covers, access panels and operator interfaces.
- Design reject mechanisms, pneumatic assemblies, motion systems, change parts, nests, guides, brackets, fixtures and machine-to-line interfaces.
- Select appropriate materials, manufacturing processes, standard components, fits, tolerances and surface treatments based on load, environment, accuracy, hygiene, service and cost requirements.
- Apply practical safety-by-design principles: guarded hazards, safe access, stable structures, maintainable layouts and provisions for sensors, interlocks and emergency systems.
SolidWorks engineering
- Create robust parametric part models using correct design intent, references, equations and feature structure.
- Use sheet metal, weldments, multi-body parts, configurations, design tables, library features and surface modelling where the application requires them.
- Build disciplined sub-assemblies and top-level assemblies capable of supporting variants, custom options and future revisions.
- Manage large assemblies using practical performance methods without compromising model accuracy or traceability.
- Use SolidWorks Toolbox and standardized hardware intelligently; avoid uncontrolled duplicate components and inconsistent fastener selection.
Assembly verification
- Create complete sub-assemblies, top assemblies and exploded assemblies with correct mates, hierarchy and component naming.
- Perform interference detection, collision checks, clearance verification, access checks and motion verification before release.
- Perform formal tolerance stack-up analysis for critical interfaces and document the design basis where cumulative variation affects function.
- Validate camera field access, lighting placement, adjustment ranges, conveyor clearances, reject timing geometry, cable bend space and maintenance access with the vision/electrical teams.
- Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis for critical interfaces, datum schemes, alignment features, bearing fits, guide systems and optical/mechanical positioning.
Concepts, prototypes and sales engineering support
- Develop concept layouts, proposal drawings, preliminary GA drawings, customer-presentation views and prototype concepts for new machines or applications.
- Support Sales and senior management during technical discussions by establishing machine envelope, product flow, access, interfaces, utilities and major mechanical assumptions.
- Make feasibility assumptions and open technical risks visible; do not release an attractive concept that cannot be manufactured, assembled or serviced.
EXPECTED ENGINEERING MINDSET Design for the complete machine lifecycle: manufacture assembly wiring testing installation operation maintenance upgrade.
1. Manufacturing Release, Control & Lifecycle Support
Production-ready drawings
- Produce fully defined 2D drawings for CNC machining, turning, milling, laser cutting, waterjet cutting, sheet-metal fabrication, welding, finishing and assembly.
- Specify functional dimensions, datum references, GD&T;, tolerances, limits and fits, surface finish, weld symbols, bend information, coating/finish requirements, critical notes and manufacturing instructions.
- Use tolerances deliberatelytight enough for function, but not tighter than the process and product require.
- Prepare assembly drawings, installation drawings, exploded views, interface drawings and special inspection requirements where needed.
- Self-check all drawings against the released 3D model, mating components, BOM and applicable standards before issue.
BOM, numbering and drawing control
- Prepare and maintain accurate multi-level Bills of Materials covering manufactured parts, purchased components, standard hardware and sub-assemblies.
- Maintain the Bill of Materials as a controlled manufacturing-release record, not as an informal purchasing list.
- Assign and control part numbers, drawing numbers, descriptions, revision levels and configuration applicability.
- Verify BOM quantities, specifications, make/buy classification and drawing availability before production release.
- Maintain the engineering drawing database, current-version visibility, controlled release status and traceability of superseded/obsolete drawings.
- Raise and close Engineering Change Notes/Orders with reason, affected parts, interchangeability, stock impact, machine impact and implementation point.
- Update models, drawings, BOMs and manuals together when an improvement or correction is approved; do not leave conflicting engineering records.
Mechanicalelectricalvision integration
- Prepare electrical panel mechanical layouts, cable routes, sensor locations, camera and light mounting layouts, junction-box layouts and provisions for electrical hardware.
- Coordinate connector access, cable entry, bend radius, heat dissipation, grounding points, mounting clearances and maintenance accessibility with Machine Vision/Electrical Engineers.
- Work directly with Machine Vision Engineers to lock camera, lens, lighting, trigger, sensor and inspection-zone interfaces before mechanical release.
- Work from circuit and component inputs supplied by the electrical/vision team; independent electrical circuit design is not part of this role.
Manufacturing, assembly and vendor support
- Work closely with Production during fabrication, machining, assembly, prototype builds and machine testing.
- Investigate build issues at the machine, identify the root cause and issue controlled corrections quicklywithout relying on undocumented shop-floor changes.
- Coordinate with machining, fabrication and component vendors on tolerances, process capability, material, finish, manufacturability and drawing clarifications.
- Participate in design reviews, DFM/DFA reviews, prototype evaluation and root-cause analysis; convert lessons learned into standards and reusable design improvements.
Technical documentation
- Create and maintain User, Installation, Assembly, Maintenance and Service Manuals in coordination with relevant teams.
- Prepare illustrated parts catalogues, exploded-view drawings, maintenance illustrations, assembly sequences and replacement-part identification.
- Ensure every released machine has a coherent mechanical record: final models, drawings, BOM, revision history and applicable manuals.

- Pneumatics, conveyors, linear guides, bearings, shafts, couplings, gearboxes, timing belts, servo/stepper mechanisms and industrial standard components.
- SPM design, packaging machinery, industrial automation, machine vision equipment, optical/mechanical fixtures or precision engineering.
Manufacturing knowledge expected
- CNC turning and milling; machining datum strategy; realistic tolerance and surface-finish selection.
- Laser cutting, waterjet cutting, bending, sheet metal, welding, fabrication and distortion considerations.
- Powder coating, anodizing and other finishes; material and finish call-outs suitable for vendors.
- Fasteners, bearings, linear guides, pneumatic components and readily available industrial standard parts.
Education and experience
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- 26 years of relevant experience preferred. Strong fresh graduates may be considered only where exceptional SolidWorks capability and substantial industrial machine/project work are demonstrated.
