MD / DNB / Diploma in Anaesthesiology
A. Pre-Anaesthesia Assessment
- Conduct comprehensive pre-anaesthesia evaluation of patients scheduled for surgery / procedures.
- Review medical history, clinical condition, investigations, medications, allergies and previous anaesthesia history.
- Assess anaesthetic risk and determine the appropriate anaesthesia plan.
- Identify high-risk patients and communicate the risk to the treating surgeon / physician and patient as appropriate.
- Ensure required investigations and specialist opinions are available before planned procedures.
- Document pre-anaesthesia assessment and fitness / risk assessment appropriately.
B. Intra-Operative Anaesthesia Management
- Administer and monitor anaesthesia according to the patient's clinical condition and planned procedure.
- Ensure appropriate airway management and maintenance of adequate ventilation, circulation and oxygenation.
- Monitor vital parameters continuously throughout the procedure.
- Ensure appropriate use of anaesthesia drugs, equipment and monitoring devices.
- Maintain accurate anaesthesia records.
- Identify and manage intra-operative complications promptly.
- Coordinate with surgeons, nursing staff and OT personnel for safe conduct of procedures.
- Ensure compliance with surgical safety and patient identification protocols.
C. Post-Anaesthesia Care
- Assess patients following anaesthesia and determine their suitability for transfer from OT / recovery area.
- Monitor recovery from anaesthesia, including airway, respiration, circulation, consciousness and pain.
- Manage post-operative nausea, vomiting, pain and other anaesthesia-related complications.
- Ensure appropriate handover to the recovery room / ICU / ward team.
- Provide explicit instructions regarding post-anaesthesia monitoring and further management.
D. Pain Management
- Provide peri-operative and post-operative pain management.
- Assess pain and response to treatment.
- Advise appropriate analgesic modalities based on patient condition and procedure.
- Participate in hospital pain-management initiatives and protocols.
E. Emergency & Resuscitation Services
- Provide anaesthesia support during medical and surgical emergencies.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls requiring airway management or resuscitation support.
- Assist in management of cardiac arrest, respiratory emergencies and other critical situations.
- Participate in Code Blue / resuscitation activities as per hospital protocol.
- Ensure readiness and appropriate use of airway-management and resuscitation equipment.
F. ICU / Critical Care Support
- Provide anaesthesia and airway-management support to critically ill patients wherever required.
- Assist in procedures requiring anaesthetic / sedation support.
- Coordinate with intensivists, physicians and surgeons regarding critical-care patients.
- Participate in multidisciplinary management of high-risk patients, as required.
G. Patient Safety & Quality
- Follow hospital policies, clinical protocols and NABH requirements applicable to anaesthesia services.
- Ensure correct patient identification and procedure verification before administration of anaesthesia.
- Follow medication safety and high-alert medication protocols.
- Ensure appropriate infection prevention and control practices.
- Report adverse events, near misses and anaesthesia-related incidents as per hospital policy.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA and quality-improvement activities wherever assigned.
- Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews and clinical audits.
H. Documentation & Medical Records
- Maintain complete and accurate pre-anaesthesia, intra-operative and post-anaesthesia records.
- Ensure timely documentation of anaesthetic drugs, doses, monitoring parameters and significant events.
- Maintain appropriate informed consent documentation as per hospital policy.
- Ensure medical records are complete, legible and available for clinical review and audit.
I. OT & Equipment Management
- Ensure availability and functional readiness of anaesthesia machines, ventilators, monitors and airway-management equipment before procedures.
- Report equipment malfunction immediately to the concerned department.
- Ensure appropriate availability of emergency drugs and anaesthesia-related consumables.
- Coordinate with OT and biomedical engineering teams for preventive maintenance and calibration requirements.
J. Clinical Coordination
- Coordinate with surgeons, physicians, intensivists, nursing staff and other clinical departments.
- Participate in pre-operative and post-operative clinical discussions for high-risk patients.
- Communicate relevant anaesthetic risks and peri-operative concerns to the treating team.
- Support appropriate escalation of clinically significant concerns.
Pay: ₹150,000.00 - ₹250,000.00 per month
