Role Description The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai. This role oversees manufacturing engineering activities, including process design, optimization, and continuous improvement across wheel and related product lines. The Manager leads a team of engineers, coordinates with production, quality, maintenance, and supply chain to ensure efficient operations, and implements best practices in safety, cost, and quality.
Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing production data, resolving process issues,
supporting new product introductions, managing capital projects, and aligning engineering initiatives with business goals and OEM partner requirements. The role also involves mentoring team members, driving standardization, and collaborating with global customers and internal stakeholders to meet performance and compliance targets.
Qualifications
Solid foundation in Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing Operations, with experience in high-volume production environments.
Expertise in Process Engineering and Industrial Engineering, including workflow optimization, line balancing, and lean manufacturing principles.
Proven Engineering Management skills, with experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and managing projects.
Knowledge of automotive or heavy equipment components manufacturing, preferably wheels, suspension, or related products.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience with quality systems, TPM, Six Sigma or similar methodologies, and familiarity with OEM requirements and audits.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with proficiency in relevant engineering and productivity tools.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively on-site in a fast-paced environment.
