About The Role We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Standard Details and Technical Details Innovation Expert to lead the development of technical design solutions for critical transitions, joinery, millwork, and special architectural or interior details.

This role will focus on creating innovative, efficient, and scalable technical solutions while building and maintaining a comprehensive Special Details Library . The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing key millwork drawings and integrating them seamlessly into project documentation, ensuring all design elements are optimized for constructability, functionality, and aesthetics.

What Makes The Role Successful

- Development of Key Technical and Millwork Details:
- Design, develop, and document key transitions, junctions, joinery, and custom millwork details for various design projects.
- Create millwork drawings for furniture, cabinetry, wall panels, ceilings, and built-ins that meet design intent and construction feasibility.
- Develop innovative solutions for complex architectural and interior details, such as ceiling-to-wall transitions, door and window interfaces, flooring junctions, and casework.
- Ensure that all millwork and technical details are cost-effective, durable,



and aligned with project specifications.
- Building and Maintaining the Special Details Library:
- Establish and maintain a Special Details Library containing reusable details, including custom millwork, joinery, and transition details.
- Regularly review and refine the library to integrate improvements based on project feedback, evolving design requirements, and emerging materials or techniques.
- Ensure the library is organized, easily accessible, and efficiently utilized by the design and technical teams.
- Overseeing the quality of Millwork and Technical Drawings:
- Oversee the production of detailed millwork shop drawings, technical construction drawings, and installation guidelines.
- Collaborate with fabricators and vendors to verify design feasibility and resolve any production challenges.
- Ensure that all technical drawings adhere to relevant codes, company standards, and best practices.

- Innovation and Research
- Research innovative materials, joinery techniques, and emerging construction methods for millwork and key transitions.
- Integrate sustainable materials and practices into technical and millwork designs to promote environmentally responsible solutions.
- Identify areas of technical improvement and suggest current methodologies for enhanced design efficiency and execution.

- Collaboration and Coordination
- Work closely with Creative Designers, MEP Designers, VDC/BIM Managers, and contractors to develop and coordinate millwork and technical details.
- Provide technical guidance to design and project teams on millwork, joinery,



and detailing requirements.
- Participate in site visits to ensure accurate implementation of millwork and technical details and address any on-site challenges.

- Quality Control and Documentation
- Conduct quality reviews of millwork and technical drawings to ensure consistency, accuracy, and constructability.
- Maintain version control and documentation standards for all millwork and special detail drawings.
- Ensure timely revisions and updates based on client feedback or on-site conditions.

What We’re Looking For

- Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.

- Experience
- 15+ years of experience in technical detailing, millwork design, and design development, with a strong focus on custom joinery and transitions.
- Experience creating millwork shop drawings and collaborating with fabricators.

- Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design and documentation tools.
- Deep knowledge of millwork fabrication processes, materials, and joinery techniques.
- Strong understanding of key transitions, construction detailing, and building codes.
- Excellent problem-solving and creative thinking abilities for technical challenges.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
