Position: Lead / (SME) Network Engineer - COMPLEX DELIVERY TEAM

Overall Purpose of the Role

- Act as a Lead or Senior Engineer at subject matter expert level within the Complex Delivery team.
- Contribute to engineering and architectural standards and produce low-level designs.
- Lead delivery on programmes by guiding aligned engineers, taking responsibility for end-to-end project execution, and providing progress updates to the wider leadership team.
- Design, build,



and deploy network infrastructure solutions that meet business requirements.
- Work with global support teams to transition delivered solutions into operational support.

Key Accountabilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert in two or more network technologies, with a working knowledge of the other network technologies used by Barclays.
- Scope, plan, and act as Lead Engineer on large transformational programmes and network-led initiatives.
- Ensure that designs align with current architectural guidelines and that supporting documentation is fit for purpose.
- Maintain compliance across all network disciplines, including governance, change management, and risk and audit requirements.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership
- Work with internal Barclays stakeholders and external vendors to achieve project objectives.
- Provide timely updates and escalate issues promptly to the appropriate stakeholders when required.
- Produce accurate estimates for workload and delivery timelines.

Decision-Making and Problem Solving
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Make confident, well-judged decisions throughout the lifecycle of a project to improve delivery and mitigate delays or issues.





Risk and Control Objective Ensure that all activities and responsibilities are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, the Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework, and internal Barclays policies and standards.

Person Specification

- More than 10 years of demonstrable experience leading, designing, and implementing complex network solutions within a regulated industry or large enterprise setting.
- Experience operating as a Lead Engineer on complex programmes, technically leading teams and providing progress updates to leadership.
- Ability to bring together knowledge from multiple sources and consolidate it into an end-to-end solution.
- A proactive approach to workload management, delivery, and time management.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex solutions clearly to stakeholders.

Essential Skills and Basic Qualifications One or more of the following certifications would be advantageous:
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Enterprise
- FortiGate Professional
- F5 LTM/GTM at Certified Technical Specialist level, or equivalent

Desirable Skills and Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth technical understanding of one or more of the following technologies:
- Cisco routing and switching, including Cisco ACI, NX-OS, Arista, ASR, CSR, and CSP.
- Juniper routing and switching.
- F5 load balancers, including LTM and GTM, iRules, policies, client and server TLS, mutual authentication, and API/HTTP troubleshooting.
- Fortinet FortiGate, including FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer, as well as Cisco Firepower and ASA.
- Cisco campus wireless.
- Blue Coat, Symantec Proxy, and Zscaler.
