- Establish Metrology and Metallurgy labs
- Lead Manage Metrology and Metallurgy labs function to have faster and accurate test data.
- Establish measurement method for components, even in absence of drawings or process
- Develop first principles based measurement method for components and plan for continuous improvement of measurement technology
- Responsible for approval of material, Process, Heat treatment of parts and surface modification techniques based on application
- Work on application engineering of the part with right selection of Material and process to make the part without compromising on fit, form or function during the development stage.
- Establish COP for material conformance and actively participate in raw material / special process supplier audit / finalisation.
- Provide Technical support for root cause analysis by failure analysis using a methodological approach
- Lead RCA on field failures and implement containment corrective actions by developing design guidelines, standards and specifications.
- Lead and drive periodic DFMEA reviews. Demonstrate focus on pro-active screening of defects and timely implementation of control mechanisms to reduce RPN.
- Review and approve standards, specifications and robust process controls associated with Material technology during manufacturing of parts
- Review of engineering sample materials per specifications during development




- Provide technical expertise for material analysis of parts by using facilities hands on or using facilities available at alternate sources.
- Interpret test results, write reports, and effectively communicate with other engineers.
- Provide technical inputs to Value Engineering and Value Addition projects
- Coordinate with staff members and resolve all technical problems of manufacturing and design unit related to Metallurgy and Materials

Here s what we are looking for:

Domain skills

- Robust fundamentals on Measurement technology - first principles based measurement
- Competent in interpreting drawings and making measurement plan for the same
- Strong fundamentals on Metallurgy of Steels and Aluminum alloys
- Fundamentals on Heat treatment and Surface coating technologies including but not limited to Plating, Painting, Powder coating etc.
- Knowledge of Plastics, Rubbers and Paints would be an added advantage
- Fundamentals on castings, Forging, fabrication, welding would be an added advantage

Tools:
- Know to operate measurement equipment like CMM, FARO, VMM, scanning techniques etc
- Know to operate Material characterization techniques including Optical microscopes, Hardness testers, Tensile testers
- Knows to operate SEM, DSC, TGA.
- Knowledge of characterization techniques that can evaluate a particular material property

What You bring to Ather:

B.Tech/BE or M.Tech/ME/MS with 10 to 15 years experience in Metrology Metallurgy or related field
