Qualification

- MBBS with MD/DNB in Transfusion Medicine from a recognized institution.

- Valid NMC/State Medical Council Registration.

Experience

- 1015 years of post-MD experience in Transfusion Medicine.

- Minimum 5 years of experience leading a Transfusion Medicine/Blood Centre in a tertiary care hospital.

Job Summary The Head – Transfusion Medicine is responsible for leading the Department of Transfusion Medicine and ensuring the safe, effective, and evidence-based delivery of transfusion services. The role includes clinical oversight, blood component management, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, academic activities, and collaboration with clinical departments to ensure optimal patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

- Provide expert consultation on blood transfusion practices and patient blood management.

- Supervise compatibility testing, immunohematology services, and blood component therapy.

- Manage complex transfusion cases and adverse transfusion reactions.

- Guide clinicians on appropriate blood component utilization.

- Oversee therapeutic apheresis procedures, where applicable.
