Role Overview As Head of Project Experimentation, you will build and lead a vertical that sits at the intersection of construction innovation, materials science, and execution intelligence. This is not a conventional PMO or delivery role — it is a mandate to fundamentally change how Spaceworx builds.
You will be responsible for identifying, piloting, and embedding new materials, technologies, and execution methodologies that compress timelines, reduce waste, and raise quality standards across all our sites. Your work will directly shape the competitive advantage of Spaceworx in an increasingly demanding fit-out market.
What Makes The Role Successful
- Materials Research & Innovation
- Systematically research and evaluate new construction and fit-out materials available across global markets
— including prefabricated systems, modular components, and performance finishes.
- Establish a live materials library with performance benchmarks, lead times, and cost indices relevant to the Indian commercial fit-out context.
- Run structured pilot programmes on live projects to validate current materials against speed, quality, cost, and sustainability parameters.
- Build and maintain relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and material innovators — domestically and internationally.
- Execution Technology & Process Innovation
- Research and introduce new execution technologies - including construction robotics, digital fabrication, IoT-enabled site monitoring, and real-time progress tracking platforms.
- Benchmark global practices in workplace fit-out execution and identify adaptations relevant to the Indian regulatory and supply-chain environment.
- Lead the implementation of technology-enabled site processes - from digital Daily Progress Reports (DPRs) to AI-assisted scheduling and resource planning.
- Work with the Technology / PMO function to ensure all innovations integrate with existing platforms and reporting frameworks.
- Execution Strategy & Operational Innovation
- Innovate on Last-Mile Operations (LMO) — the sequencing, logistics, and coordination that govern how materials and labour move on a live site.
- Introduce and optimise machinery and equipment strategies that reduce manual dependency and accelerate execution velocity.
- Develop standardised, scalable site reporting processes that give project teams and clients real-time visibility into progress, risk, and quality milestones.
- Design execution playbooks for high-frequency typologies (law firms, investment offices, financial services clients) that encode speed and quality defaults into the delivery model.
- Real-Time Visibility & Analytics
- Champion the adoption of real-time site visibility tools - including CCTV-based monitoring, drone documentation, and live dashboards for on-site KPIs.
- Define the data architecture for execution reporting: what is tracked, how it is surfaced, and how it feeds decision-making at site, project, and portfolio levels.
- Create feedback loops between on-site performance data and pre-construction planning - enabling continuous improvement across the project lifecycle.
- Centralised Implementation & Rollout
- Translate successful experiments into standardised practice - building internal capability through documentation, training, and change management.
- Partner with delivery leads, design teams, and vendor partners to embed innovation into the standard operating model.
- Define the governance framework for the experimentation vertical: how initiatives are scoped, funded, evaluated,
and graduated from pilot to standard practice.
What We’re Looking For Experience & Background
- 10+ years of experience in construction, fit-out, or allied industries — with a demonstrable track record in process innovation or technology adoption.
- Deep familiarity with commercial interior fit-out in India — an understanding of the vendor ecosystem, regulatory environment, and client typologies.
- Prior exposure to global construction practices, whether through international projects, research, or industry engagement.
- Experience managing cross-functional initiatives and driving adoption of new methods across delivery teams.
Capabilities & Mindset
- A genuine intellectual curiosity about construction technology - you follow what is emerging globally and instinctively ask how it applies here.
- The ability to move between strategic thinking and operational rigour - you can design a programme and also get into the detail of how it runs on site.
- Strong communication skills: the ability to make complex innovations legible to site teams, project managers, and senior leadership alike.
- A bias for action and experimentation - you are comfortable with ambiguity and energised by building something from the ground up.
- Data literacy: comfort with metrics, reporting frameworks, and the use of technology to drive performance visibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Certifications in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2) or Lean / Six Sigma methodologies are an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience with construction technology platforms, or digital site management tools.
What This Role Offers This is a founding role within a new vertical - an opportunity to shape how one of India's most respected workplace design-and-build firms executes projects at scale. You will have the mandate, the resources, and the organisational backing to run genuine experiments, and the platform to see your innovations become standard practice across a high-volume, high-profile project portfolio. The creative freedom to identify, fund, and run pilots - with a clear pathway to systemic adoption.
