The Registrar of Obstetrics & Gynaecology is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to women across outpatient, inpatient, labour room, emergency, and operation theatre settings. The role includes diagnosis, treatment, emergency management, assisting and performing procedures as per competency, and ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care under the supervision of Consultants.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess, diagnose, and manage obstetric and gynaecological patients in OPD, IPD, Labour Room, and Emergency.

- Conduct antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal patient care.

- Perform routine and emergency clinical assessments.

- Assist Consultants in major obstetric and gynaecological surgeries, including Caesarean Sections, Hysterectomies, Laparoscopic and Open Surgeries.

- Perform minor procedures independently based on credentialing and privileges.

- Attend labour ward and manage normal and high-risk deliveries.

- Respond promptly to obstetric and gynaecological emergencies.

- Participate in daily ward rounds and formulate treatment plans.





- Maintain accurate electronic medical records and discharge summaries.

- Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, procedures, and follow-up care.

- Coordinate with Anaesthesia, Neonatology, Nursing, Laboratory, Blood Bank, and other departments for comprehensive patient care.

- Participate in on-call duties, night shifts, weekends, and public holidays as per departmental roster.

- Ensure adherence to NABH/JCI standards, infection control protocols, and patient safety guidelines.

- Participate in departmental CMEs, audits, mortality & morbidity meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.

- Supervise Junior Residents, Interns, and Medical Students where applicable.

Qualification

- MBBS with MD/MS/DNB in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

- Valid State Medical Council/NMC Registration.

Experience

- 05 years of experience as Registrar/Senior Resident in a tertiary care hospital.

- Experience in managing obstetric emergencies and labour room is preferred.
