Lal Sweets is a Bengaluru-headquartered packaged-food company established in 2010, with a growing presence across general trade, modern trade, e-commerce, airport outlets and export markets. Its portfolio spans packaged mithai, namkeen and ethnic bakery products, including Mysore Pak, Besan Laddoo, Kaju Katli, Dharwad Peda, cookies and cake toast. The company is now strengthening its manufacturing platform and expanding into adjacent categories such as healthy snacks, instant mixes and frozen ready-to-eat foods.

Role & responsibilities

Lead and transform end-to-end manufacturing operations, combining the authenticity of traditional food-making with the discipline, automation and scale of up-to-date packaged-food manufacturing. The incumbent will initially take ownership of the principal manufacturing operation and progressively drive common standards, capability and performance across locations.

- Own plant performance across production, engineering, maintenance, quality, food safety, stores and factory administration, in close coordination with Supply Chain, R&D;, Finance and HR.
- Deliver production plans aligned with demand, service levels and inventory norms, including effective peak-season and festival planning.
- Improve OEE, capacity utilisation, throughput, labour productivity, yields and equipment reliability while reducing conversion cost, wastage, rework and downtime.
- Industrialise and standardise mithai, namkeen, bakery and allied food processes without compromising taste, authenticity, consistency or shelf life.
- Build a strong operating cadence through daily management systems, KPI reviews, root-cause analysis and corrective-action governance.
- Lead CAPEX planning, technology evaluation, automation, capacity expansion and commissioning of new production lines and utilities.
- Strengthen preventive and predictive maintenance, critical-spares planning and asset-reliability practices.
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI, GMP, HACCP, ISO/FSSC requirements, statutory standards,



hygiene and employee-safety expectations.
- Partner with Quality and R&D; to reduce complaints, improve process capability and commercialise new products at the required quality, cost and speed.
- Build and develop plant heads, production and engineering managers, supervisors, operators and contractual workforces; create clear accountability and a high-performance shop-floor culture.
- Prepare plant budgets, track operational and conversion costs, review CAPEX returns and present performance, risks and recovery plans to the CEO and senior management.
- Standardise SOPs, controls and manufacturing practices across plants as the business scales.

Preferred candidate profile

- 14 to 20 years of manufacturing/operations experience, including at least five years as a Plant Head, Unit Head, GM/SGM Operations, Manufacturing Head or an equivalent senior leader.
- Substantial experience in packaged foods, FMCG food, bakery, snacks, dairy, confectionery or other high-volume food manufacturing.
- End-to-end plant leadership covering production plus multiple allied functions such as engineering, maintenance, quality, projects, stores, factory HR/admin, logistics or R&D.;
- Demonstrated, quantified improvement in OEE, productivity, cost, yield, wastage, quality or capacity.
- Experience leading automation, greenfield/brownfield expansion, line commissioning or major capacity-augmentation projects.
- Experience managing sizeable permanent and contractual workforces in a process-disciplined factory environment.
- Working knowledge of FSSAI, GMP, HACCP and ISO 22000/FSSC 22000 or comparable food-safety systems.

Strongly preferred

- Experience in mithai, namkeen, ethnic packaged foods, bakery, biscuits, rusk or adjacent snack categories.
- Experience converting traditional or semi-manual food processes into scalable, standardised and automated operations.
- Exposure to multi-plant governance, ERP/SAP systems and direct reporting to a CEO, MD or Business Head.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma and structured continuous-improvement systems.
