The New Car Sales General Manager is responsible for leading and managing the dealership’s new vehicle sales operations, achieving sales and profitability targets, developing the sales team, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

The role requires strong leadership, commercial acumen, sales expertise, inventory management skills, and the ability to drive consistent performance through effective processes and team accountability.

Key Responsibilities1. Sales & Revenue Management

- Develop and execute the dealership’s new car sales strategy.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual vehicle sales targets.
- Monitor retail, fleet, corporate, and other sales channels.
- Improve sales conversion, enquiry-to-booking, and booking-to-delivery ratios.
- Monitor and improve gross profit per vehicle.
- Develop promotional and local-market sales initiatives.
- Analyse competitors, market trends, pricing, and customer demand.

1. Team Leadership & People Management

- Lead, motivate, and develop the new car sales team.
- Set individual and team sales targets.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and sales meetings.
- Coach sales consultants on prospecting, follow-up, negotiation, and closing.
- Recruit and retain high-performing sales staff.
- Establish a strong performance-driven and customer-focused culture.
- Ensure effective training and product knowledge across the team.

1. Lead & Customer Management

- Ensure all customer enquiries and leads are followed up promptly.
- Monitor CRM usage, lead allocation, follow-up activity, and conversion.
- Drive test drives, demonstrations, bookings, and vehicle deliveries.
- Handle escalated customer complaints and negotiation issues.
- Maintain high customer satisfaction and dealership reputation.
- Develop strategies to increase repeat and referral business.

1. Inventory & Stock Management

- Work closely with the manufacturer/distributor and dealership management on vehicle ordering and allocation.




- Maintain optimum new vehicle stock levels and model mix.
- Monitor ageing stock and implement action plans to reduce stock ageing.
- Ensure accurate pricing, vehicle display, and stock records.
- Coordinate with the pre-owned, finance, and service departments where appropriate to maximise overall dealership profitability.

1. Financial & Profitability Management

- Prepare and manage the new car sales department budget.
- Monitor sales revenue, gross profit, incentives, discounts, and expenses.
- Control excessive discounting and protect dealership margins.
- Track key financial and operational KPIs.
- Identify opportunities to increase per-unit profitability and overall departmental contribution.

1. Process & Compliance

- Ensure adherence to manufacturer and dealership sales processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation for bookings, invoicing, financing, registrations, and deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable legal/regulatory requirements.
- Maintain high standards of showroom presentation and sales professionalism.

Candidate ProfileEducation
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing,



Automotive Management, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant automotive sales experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Experience
- 8–12+ years of automotive sales experience, preferably with experience managing a dealership sales operation.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a Sales Manager / Senior Sales Manager / General Manager role preferred.
- Proven track record of consistently achieving sales and profitability targets.
- Experience managing a sizeable sales team and working with CRM and dealership management systems.

Overall Objective To build and lead a high-performing new car sales operation that consistently achieves volume, profitability, customer satisfaction, and market-share objectives, while developing a strong and accountable sales team. Pay: ₹52,373.85 - ₹97,794.69 per month
