Role Title: Process Engineer - Glass
Role Purpose: Process Improvement Projects
Lead Process Engineering
What the role entails
(Key Responsibilities)
- Project End-to-End Ownership: Lead process improvement initiatives independently taking full ownership from initial problem definition and trial execution through to final validation and tangible benefit delivery.
- Technical Problem-Solving Approach: Apply structured technical problem-solving methodologies (e.g., DMAIC, 8D, Root Cause Analysis) alongside Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Six Sigma to systematically diagnose complex process variations and engineer permanent corrective actions.
- Operational Troubleshooting: Provide technical support to operations teams to rapidly resolve real-time chemical process anomalies and minimize operational downtime.
- Process & Cost Optimization: Identify and execute high-impact opportunities to reduce cycle times, minimize raw material waste (e.g., silicon tetrachloride, germanium tetrachloride), and optimize energy consumption across high-temperature furnaces and chemical delivery systems.
- Management of Change (MOC): Lead the MOC process for all process modifications, equipment upgrades, and raw material substitutions, ensuring zero disruption to ongoing operations.
- Qualification Trials & Validation: Plan, execute, and document technical qualification trials for new process parameters or equipment components, defining clear success criteria and validation protocols.
- Process Documentation & Standardization: Author, update,
and standardize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Piping &; Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;), and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) following process modifications.
- Risk Assessment & Safety: Conduct thorough risk assessments, including Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), prior to implementing operational changes.

- Data Analytics & SPC: Proficiency in data analytics, statistical tool sets, and process capability analysis.
- Independent & Team Execution: Proven ability to lead process improvement projects independently till benefits are fully realized.
- Technical Problem Solving: Strong analytical mindset with a structured, engineering-first approach to complex technical troubleshooting.
- Domain Expertise: Direct experience with gas delivery systems, chemical vapor deposition (CVD) concepts, or vitrification/sintering processes is highly desirable
- Project Management: Robust organizational skills to manage multiple process improvement projects simultaneously from conception to standard production.

Experience & Education
Minimum Qualifications & Critical Exposure to Perform the Job at the Optimum Level
3 - 5 years of relevant hands-on process engineering experience in chemical/glass manufacturing
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering/chemical / Materials Science (NIT / Reputed
Engineering College preferred).
