The Role
We are looking for two experienced Geotechnical Engineers to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidates will contribute to technically demanding underground and infrastructure projects, bringing strong analytical capabilities, sound engineering judgment, and a rigorous approach to geotechnical design and risk management.
This is an opportunity to work on internationally significant infrastructure projects including metro systems, tunnels, and underground structures within a collaborative and ambitious engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out geotechnical design and analysis for underground structures, including tunnel excavations, metro stations, shafts, and associated civil infrastructure.
- Develop and run numerical models using PLAXIS 2D and/or PLAXIS 3D to assess ground behaviour, support system performance, and structure-soil interaction.
- Apply relevant design standards and technical guidance. Eurocode 7 (EN 1997) and AFTES recommendations, and other applicable geotechnical codes and standards preferred.
- Prepare geotechnical interpretive reports, design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering deliverables to a high standard of quality and accuracy.
- Assess and manage geotechnical risks throughout the project lifecycle, including ground movement assessment and impact on adjacent structures and infrastructure.
- Liaise with structural engineers, project managers, and other discipline leads to ensure fully integrated and coordinated design solutions.
- Review and interpret ground investigation data, laboratory test results, and in-situ test data to inform design assumptions and parameters.
- Support construction-phase activities including review of contractor submissions, design verification, and technical responses to site queries.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes, methodologies, and technical standards within the geotechnical team.
- Perform other project-related duties and technical tasks as assigned by the project manager or engineering lead.
Preferred candidate profile
Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. A Master's degree or PhD in geotechnical engineering is an advantage.
Technical Experience
- Proven experience in geotechnical design for underground structures, specifically including one or more of the following: tunnel excavation, metro stations, underground shafts, and deep excavations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in PLAXIS 2D and/or PLAXIS 3D for geotechnical numerical modelling, including constitutive model selection, mesh generation, staged construction modelling, and results interpretation.
- Sound working knowledge of Eurocode 7 (EN 1997) or its equivalent standard and its practical application to geotechnical design, including the limit state approach and geotechnical categories.
- Familiarity withAFTES recommendations (Association Franaise des Tunnels et de l'Espace Souterrain) for underground works design and construction is preferred.
- Good knowledge of other relevant geotechnical standards, national annexes, and technical guidance applicable to international infrastructure projects.
Years of Experience
- A minimum of 4 to 8 years of relevant post-graduate geotechnical engineering experience, with a demonstrable focus on underground works and complex infrastructure projects.
Other Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail and precision.
- Ability to produce clear, well-structured technical reports and calculations.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams in an international workplace.
- Experience with other geotechnical software such as PLAXIS Output, GeoStudio, Rocscience suite, or similar is an advantage.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows and digital engineering tools is a plus.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to work on complex, high-profile international infrastructure projects.
- A collaborative and technically stimulating work environment.
- Exposure to international standards, best practices, and diverse project typologies.
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Professional development and career growth within an expanding international firm.
- A culture built on trust, integrity, and a genuine commitment to engineering excellence.
Core Competencies and Values
- Precision: Maintains a flawless eye for detail to ensure zero errors.
- Autonomy: Takes full ownership of design assignments with minimal supervision or direction.
- Collaboration: Works seamlessly with project teams to solve problems.
- Client Orientation: Understands client needs deeply to deliver design solutions that exceed expectations.
- Integrity: Commits to honest communication, transparent work ethics, and uncompromising safety standards.
