Role & responsibilities

Strategic Procurement

- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.

- Prepare annual procurement plans and budgets.

- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.

- Ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials and production consumables.

Vendor Management

- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers.

- Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations.

- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts, and delivery schedules.

- Maintain long-term relationships with strategic suppliers.

Raw Material Procurement

- Purchase chemicals, solvents, additives, packaging materials, engineering items, spare parts, and capital equipment.

- Monitor market trends and fluctuations in chemical raw material prices.

- Ensure procurement complies with quality specifications and production requirements.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management

- Coordinate with Production, Planning, and Stores departments.

- Maintain optimum inventory levels to avoid shortages and excess stock.

- Monitor lead times and ensure timely deliveries.

Commercial & Contract Management

- Prepare and review purchase agreements and contracts.





- Ensure compliance with commercial terms and company policies.

- Handle import procurement, customs documentation, and logistics (if applicable).

Cost Control

- Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking.

- Implement value engineering and alternate sourcing initiatives.

- Monitor procurement budgets and achieve annual cost-saving targets.

Compliance & Quality

- Ensure compliance with ISO standards, environmental regulations, and statutory requirements.

- Work closely with QA/QC to ensure purchased materials meet required specifications.

- Maintain proper procurement documentation and audit records.

Team Leadership

- Lead and mentor the purchase team.

- Allocate responsibilities and monitor performance.

- Conduct training and performance evaluations.

Coordination

- Work closely with Production, Finance, Quality Assurance, Logistics, Engineering, and Sales departments.

- Resolve procurement-related issues affecting production schedules.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Commerce, or Supply Chain Management.

- MBA in Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, or Operations (preferred).
